ERRBODY IN DA CLUB GETTIN long term hearing loss

We got up this morning and took everyone back to Summer’s house. I stayed for just a little bit after she left for the gym, but then went home to take care of some housework myself. It was really nice outside, so I took advantage and vacuumed out every inch of the car. Mom stopped by on her way home from work to visit with Bác Vân and to get a Coco Rico.

Summer’s friend Jenna asked her out to Front Street Grill for dinner and drinks in the evening, so I agreed to tag along. We had a bit of time to kill, so as soon as Summer got here we left to wash the car on the way. Once we got settled in, Summer got some pretty good pasta and I got a pretty bad fillet. The band had quite a bit of trouble integrating with the bar’s sound system and ended up wheeling in their own. We were sat front and center, so once they got to playing we had to move outside to avoid permanent damage to our hearing.

It was really nice out, but the girls got cold and we had to move back inside. We sat at a table in the back, but it was still way too loud for me. It only got worse when the band took a break and the DJ cranked his cancer mixtape to 11, so we left shortly thereafter.

I’m really not much for fun.

I got up a bit earlier than usual this morning so I could get my Birthday Slam at Denny’s. I was worried for a moment about not having the coupon printed out, but thankfully they just took my ID. Last year I got bamboozled, so I would have felt rightly stupid for messing up again.

I spent all morning running around until I inadvertently convinced Jason and Allen to go to Ci-Ci’s for BOGO all-you-can-eat pizza for $5.99. That’s a hard one to argue, but the food wasn’t as good as our last visit, except for the whole weekend-long fever thing that happened last time.

After lunch, Jason helped me run down an intercom issue at Oakland, then I spent most of the remainder of the afternoon helping set up some more stuff for Sara.

Once off of work, I headed home to set up my newly RMA’d cable modem before heading to Summer’s for dinner. She made chili in a slow cooker, then we all played Phase 8 because bedtime is a very real thing in that household.

When I got home, I stopped by Bác Vân’s to pick up some strawberries she got me for my birthday. I guess overall it went about as well as it could have.

Nobody likes you when you’re 23.

Two-Man

I spent all morning at Oakland, partially finishing up Sara’s office, but also babysitting ELPA testing. Becky finished her latest cow painting and brought it in for me. She always does a fantastic job, but seems so critical.

Ryan, Zach, Sara, and I went to Wendy’s for lunch. Ryan and I both got their Smoky Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger, which was awesome. I was feeling the double, and it was everything I had hoped it would be.

After lunch, I spent some time at the junior high before heading back to the shop to help Ryan hang a touch panel for Amanda. She was there too. We were in and out in about 40 minutes, which seemed pretty awesome compared to the five-man jobs we usually pull on Fridays.

After work, I came home and boxed up my damaged Pixel and fried cable modem for their respective returns. Then it was a winning round of PUBG before bed.

MOOvie Marvel II

I got up today and tried a few rounds of solo PUBG since nobody else was around to play. I made it to the top 5 or 10 in every game in which I didn’t get killed immediately, which made me feel like I’m really improving. After a morning of that, I spent most of the afternoon cleaning house in preparation for our second weekend of bingeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After everything was cleaned up, Josh joined for me for a round of doubles, which we won right off the bat. Then the girls got here right as we got looted in our second game, so I quit out and left him to fend for himself.

Summer brought a bunch of leftover Fat Daddy’s barbecue from a quiz bowl event today, along with a bunch of stuff to make for tomorrow. We made it through Thor and The Avengers with only one casualty to sleep. Tomorrow we’ll continue with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, then see where the day takes us. We’ve still got some catching up to do before Black Panther comes out in a couple weeks.

It seems to be powered by some sort of electricity!

Someone Who Does Family Nights

We didn’t have much going on at work today. I got caught up on a bunch of random work orders, then met up with everyone for lunch. A big group of us tried to walk to Madame Wu’s, but they were closed in spite of their open sign. I got a message kind of late saying to go home half an hour early, but I was too busy wrapping things up myself.

Summer brought all the kids over to start watching the Marvel movies, and we started with the first Iron Man. I had planned to watch The Incredible Hulk as well, but the kids wanted to play Drawful instead. We did that, then started some other Steam games until we settled on BattleBlock Theater. It was pretty fun, and worked fine to tire everyone out. We’ll continue our movie binge tomorrow.

Buy One, Get One

It was my turn at Oakland for their second day of testing today. I had a couple things to do there, so it wasn’t a complete bust. Plus I like spending time with my girls in the office. Sheri bought a huge pot of chili from the Wesley Foundation, but hardly anyone donated, so I had lunch there to do my part. It was pretty good chili, but she had a ton to take home with her.

I made it back to the shop for the very last part of the day, but didn’t get any farther than that. I headed home after work and tried to clean up a little before the weekend. Bác Vân called with eggrolls, and I visited with her for a bit before the girls came by and completely demolished them.

After they left, I played a double in PUBG with Jack, and we both made it out alive with our chicken dinner. Then we played a squad game with Josh and Adam and won that one as well, making for back-to-back chickey chickey din dins. Our third game was sort of close, but I blame the loss of our fourth game entirely on Adam, because he did the exact opposite of every single thing I said.

Mounted

I caught up on some sleep today. I didn’t wake up until just after noon. Not long after I got up, my phone mount arrived, so I went and installed it in my car. I think it looks pretty slick. I wish my phone was natively magnetic so I didn’t have to have a metal plate stuck to the back of it, but even that doesn’t look too bad. We’ll see how well it holds up in the summer heat, but so far I’m really happy with it.

Nobody was around to do anything, so I burned most of the day. Clint got on in the late afternoon and we played a couple rounds of PUBG, but that’s all we did before I left for Summer’s. She baked some breaded pork chops, grilled some corn, and boiled some mashed potatoes. I was impressed until I looked up a list of cooking techniques, and now I feel like she could have tried a little harder.

We watched Toy Story 3 thinking it was the newest one, but I forgot how many there were. I think the fourth one is the one that made everyone bawl their eyes out.

I want Waffle House so bad I can’t see straight.

Dragging Fridays

I didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night, which worsened how the workday dragged on. We spent all morning cleaning up the shop. It seemed like lunchtime came so late, even when we left early to eat. I ordered the ghost pepper wings from Popeye’s, and they tasted like the tiniest, regularest wings I’ve ever had. The blackened ranch had more spice than the wings. They were also short by two wings, which they offered to replace with two strips rather than make me wait an additional eight minutes to cook two more wings while the first ones got cold.

We got to leave an hour and a half early, so I came home to rest for a while before heading to Conway. Summer and Autumn came by for a little while until Josh showed up, then he and I headed to Chipotle, Game Point, and finally to see Jumanji. I got to see the whole thing this time without being stuck in the lobby waiting for refills. It definitely rounded out my impression of the movie. Now I’ve just got one more weekend before school’s back to normal.

The fact that I’m not Instagramming this right now is insane!

The Gangover

The cats woke everyone up this morning. It was a lazy day of cold pizza, The Jackbox Party Pack, and Life of Pi. It really is an incredible movie.

I took everyone home after dark and hung out there for a little while before heading back home so I could get back to the slow grind at work in the morning.

My life is all games.

What are Traditions: New Year’s Eve 2017

I spent most of the afternoon cleaning house in case anyone wanted to come over for New Year’s Eve. I had originally planned to have a fire, but it was too cold and windy for that. We decided to get some pizza and stay in for a movie instead. Summer and the girls were the only ones that wanted to do anything, so I picked them up along with some Domino’s to watch a movie before counting down to the new year. I had some trouble with our first movie choice, and somehow we settled on Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romeo and Juliet while we ate. Then we played some music around midnight, and ended the night with The Jungle Book.

Everyone pretty well passed out, so I guess it was a success.
