Shrimp on the Barbie

Today was a day for cooking. I started out with a huge spread of an omelette station. After the first one, the rest turned out pretty well. We watched some TV until Summer fell asleep on the couch. The girls were stuck on their screens, so Summer and I napped for a few minutes before she took Autumn to color guard practice. Eaddie stuck around and watched TV while I played some PUBG with some of the guys.

I started some laundry and baked some potatoes in the mid afternoon. Then I grilled some pork steaks wrapped in bacon, barbecue chicken legs, shrimp, and some veggies, and made twice-baked potatoes. It was a long and arduous project, but it turned out alright. I had to do dishes twice today, but at least most everything is back in order.

I wrapped up with some Overwatch, and now I need about twice as much sleep as I’ll get.

Slow down, you move too fast.

Runaround Shoe

Summer went to her half marathon this morning, and it was up to me to get up with the kids to meet her before she got to the end. I watched her on Google Maps as she raced past miles 2, 5, and then 10 by the time I made it out of the shower. I got everyone up, and we drove to Hardee’s where I was going to grab some breakfast and wait for her to run by, but we spotted her just as I parked, so we drove closer to the finish and walked up to find her there. She finished in just two hours and 12 minutes, and paid for it the rest of the day.

We got the girls back home, then I left to clean house and prepare for Jesica’s visit and a Suddenlink appointment in the early afternoon. They arrived at the same time, with him being about half an hour early for his two-hour window. He was super cool, and I ended up helping him run a new line from the pole down to the house. In the end, I was left not much better than before. Three of my 32 channels have a sub-optimal SNR, which evidently causes my modem to completely stop responding until I cycle power about once a day. He left me with enough cable and four ends to re-run my inside wiring, since I already have plans to run a bunch of cable in the house anyway.

Jesica had to leave just before he finished up, and then the girls showed up shortly after that. Summer was still suffering quite a bit from the marathon, so Autumn and I went to her parents’ house to feed their clowder of cats. We stopped by 10Box on the way home to pick up some food for the next day, then made it home to pick at leftovers. My parents stopped by with some bánh mì that everyone but Autumn tried and loved, and we settled in for an episode of Cosmos.

The girls went to bed, and I loaded up some PUBG with Clint, Aaron, and Jack to round out the night.

THE END IS NEAR!

Complimentary Employee

We didn’t have much team work to do today, but I managed to volunteer for a couple jobs to pass the time. First, I helped Zach run a line for central office’s panic button. Evidently they want the button to only lock down their office and not the Gardner campus right across the street. For something so safety-focused, that sure doesn’t make any sense at all.

After we finished that, I went to the junior high for a bit until lunch. I convinced Jason and Allen to go to Brown’s Catfish so I could use my birthday voucher. They had some interesting new things for lunch, including a burrito casserole which was pretty good.

In the afternoon, I volunteered to help Ryan and Ben with a touch panel install at Center Valley. Ryan complimented me by saying, “thanks for helping.” That’s two days in a row for me. I also figured out some things about an Avaya phone using my brain parts, which earned me a pass on the second of some 600 tests. I’m really on a roll.

After work, I went home and played a couple rounds of PUBG with Keno before cleaning up and heading to Summer’s for the evening. She’s got a half marathon tomorrow, so she wants me to take the girls to watch when they wake up.

I guess I’ll have to call it a dull early night.

Seekers Notes

This morning went by pretty quickly. I found a couple slices of wheat bread in the lounge that were free for the taking, so I had them for a late breakfast before meeting Jesica at Stoby’s for lunch. She finally gave me my financial planner, and I got the same anxiety I always get when I look at this kind of stuff, and I wanted to sail away toward the horizon. My off-menu peppered burger was great, if a bit messy. I knew the waitress would go with a burger though.

After lunch, I solved a bit of a mystery that was keeping me from deploying some classroom management software to one of my labs. I think I gained just a little more approval from Ryan, so that was great. I stayed at work a bit late until the girls got home, then I went to pick up Summer to go to Ruby Tuesday for a BoGo deal I had.

When we got back to her house after dinner, we watched a couple more episodes of The Office before I headed home for bed.

I didn’t realize I had to get to level 11 and then complete a bunch more tasks!

Day Shamed

It was yet another slow day today. I started out at Oakland and ended up going to Sonic to get grilled cheeses and breakfast burritos for the girls in the office. I eventually made it back to the shop for a while until lunch. It was Zach’s birthday, so we went to Fat Daddy’s where I shoveled meat and potatoes into my face with the utmost shame.

I went home to kill some time until Summer got home, then went to her house to grill burgers for dinner. They weren’t prepared for the level of decimation I offered in the game of Uno afterward.

No I can’t go back to what I know.

Dino Invasion

Today was a beautiful day for a ride, so I spent it at work.

I did at least ride to work, but it was still a shame to spend most of the day indoors. A group of us went to CiCi’s for a $4.17 tax-day buffet. I’ve had better food there during lunch, but it was alright. I wish I had gotten more salad and less pizza, because the salad was really good.

I spent a bit of the afternoon in Photoshop after seeing Jessica’s computer wallpaper. I didn’t actually get to finish it before getting called to Oakland to set up printers for kindergarten registration, but it turned out alright.

I went home for just a bit after work before filling the bike with gas and heading to my parents’ house for eggplant soup. Coincidentally, Mom stopped on Jurassic Park 3 that was on TV, and Jessica texted to say she was served an advertisement for the new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

When I got back home, I discovered I had a new dog. It lasted for about two minutes, and then it left me just as suddenly as it appeared. I made plans for Avengers: Infinity War, then finished the evening in some PUBG with Keno and Aaron.

I was always floating around, head in the clouds.

Torchlight with Bae

My audio alarm went off this morning after the lights had reached peak brightness. I wish the audio could start halfway through the raising of the lights, but right now it doesn’t seem possible.

I managed to get up and around earlier than usual and headed in to work. There wasn’t really much going on, but I did manage to help a few people with things before lunch. I met Dale, Allen, and Jason at KFC and ate too much chicken, which made me super sleepy in the afternoon. I eventually just had to get up and start cleaning my office before I fell asleep. After the kids left, I finished running some speaker wire to wrap up one of my last two stagnant work orders.

After work, I came home and started some laundry, then waited around until someone got online to play. First it was Keno with some PUBG, and then Summer got on to play some Torchlight II. We finally found each other and wandered around a dungeon until it was past our bedtime.

Tomorrow is for bikes and pizza.

Hungry Sunday

I tried to make some Ramsay eggs this morning with a side of strawberry shortcake and grapes. It turned out alright, but it would have been better on toast. We watched several more episodes of The Office before we had to pick up the girls and get them home.

We stopped by KFC for a late lunch, then I installed some games on Summer’s computer before heading back home myself.

Mom made phở for dinner, which was a delicious surprise, especially after I had been talking about phở with Steven at dinner the night before.

I ended the night with some Overwatch with Clint. This weekend went by faster than I had anticipated.

Money money money…

Double

We got up this morning and made pancakes and sausage links. Summer’s were prettier because she pulled them off the heat earlier than I did, but mine tasted fine. I used the strawberries and whipped cream that we got for strawberry shortcakes with just a drizzle of maple syrup on top, and it was super delicious. 10/10 Goldblums.

Summer herded everyone out of the house, and I got things back in relative order before cleaning up for an evening out. Ronda and Steven invited us out to have dinner with them at their usual Saturday evening at Fat Daddy’s. They were super social butterflies. I had some public anxiety at first, but it went swimmingly. Hopefully we’ll do something else soon.

Back home for the evening, we took advantage of the mattress I set up in the living room for the girls, and snuggled up with some root beer floats to watch more of The Office before bed.

I’m serious all the time.  :|

Gearing Up for Gearing Down

We didn’t have much of a group day today. The weather threatened, but never really did a whole lot until some heavy rain in the late afternoon. We managed to make it through the whole work day without getting wet. I helped Zach with a door for a little while in the afternoon, but otherwise I had the day to myself.

After work, I came home and cleaned house along with a load of laundry before Summer brought everyone over. We watched The Spy Next Door and a part of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy before everyone fell asleep.
