That’s not snoring. That’s the sound of me dying.

We slept in a bit this morning until the kids all went to hang out with Nick. Summer started some pulled pork barbecue in the crock pot, then I dozed off in her lap while she caught up on Stranger Things so she could watch it with the kids. She went to the gym for a bit before everyone got home, and I watched Moana while updating an old laptop I hadn’t used in a while.

Once the kids got back, they all went to drop Noah off and to get an assortment of gifts from Summer’s parents. She had started some pulled pork barbecue in the crock pot earlier in the morning, which we ate once everyone got back home. It was too late to start an episode of Stranger Things, so we watched New Girl, sent the girls to bed, then caught a couple episodes of The Office before I headed home.

When I got home to my hot house, I discovered I had been invaded again by ants. This time, I lost my apple fritters. I dusted the perimeter of my house with ant killer in a fit of rage, then cleaned up a bit before bed. At least it managed to cool off pretty quickly inside.

Can you imagine an Asian that is bothered by the sound of filing nails???

RJHS hosted – for 10 points – what team’s car show?

After a fit of a night, I got up this morning to go to Summer’s quiz bowl car show at the junior high. We had too many last-minute ideas that we just had to write down for next time, but she and the kids did a great job. They had a pretty decent showing, and I even managed to get Allen and Kristen to show up together.

After the show, I went home until it was time to head to Summer’s house to watch the kids while she and Jenna had a girl’s night out. They went out for dinner, then a show at Front Street while the kids and I watched the first half of the first season of Stranger Things. Summer was ready to come home around the same time we finished our binge session, and then it was bedtime for all.

“This might be too scary for Mom.”

This is a non-emergency call.

Testing wrapped up this morning. I tried to get some work done remotely, but I’m not sure how much I actually accomplished. Lunch was cold Sumo’s with Zach and Sara before spending all afternoon with Ben and Ryan while they fixed phone issues. They had to call 911 several times to verify what phone numbers and addresses were presented in their system from each of our lines.

Dad called with an electrician at my house, so I ran home for a few minutes in the middle of the afternoon because my internet was down and I couldn’t turn my air conditioner on to test it. When I got there, we found the fan would spin but the compressor wasn’t working, so I still won’t have A/C this weekend. At least it’s nice out.

When they finished, I headed to the junior high to test my phones there and to finish up a couple other things I couldn’t get to earlier in the day. Summer was there late with some kids to set up for the quiz bowl car show tomorrow. When I finally left work, I was feeling super tired and a little sick, so I went home and took a nap for a couple hours. I had a small fever, but I started feeling better after I ate some leftovers.

Summer came by to visit for a bit, but otherwise the rest of the night was mostly a bust after having had a nap earlier and dealing with sinus issues.

It’s 12:00 Everywhere

I still didn’t have power this morning. I didn’t figure it would change on its own, but I was hopeful. I showered in the dark, then went to work for more testing. I got to play with a new duckling that the kids had hatched, and then clean up one of the three tadpoles that had gotten stuck in the little tank and died.

I met Jason and Allen for lunch at Arby’s, then went to the junior high to take care of some work I had there. Hannah got me a replacement switchblade comb because mine didn’t work well after they had been playing with it. I ended up working a bit late, then had dinner at my parents’ house when I finally got out. I finally made it home to find that most of my power had been restored after Entergy had come earlier in the day, but my air conditioner circuit was still tripped and couldn’t be reset.

I picked up Allen and stopped by to look at a Scion FR-S for sale down the road. I was curious when I first saw it, but after some inspection, I was pretty sure it had been taken off roading at some point in its life. Definitely not worth the payoff they were asking.

I finished the night in a fortunately cool house with some PUBG, then went to bed with an open window again.

You’re pretty smart for a white boy.
I’m only half!
That’s right…

…unless you’ve got POWER!

Today was pretty exhausting. Lemme tell ya ’bout it.

I was at Oakland again for testing until lunch. I had to run around the cafeteria quite a bit to work on a phone issue, so Miss Donna offered me lunch that I took home for later. I took off after lunch so Summer and I could go to Conway and get some things from Sam’s for her car show this weekend. We stopped at Chipotle for lunch first, then hit the Club.

I don’t know how we did it, but we managed to fit several hundred various drinks, chips, and buns into the back two thirds of the Murano. It took us two trips through the store and checkout line to get everything because I wasn’t sure exactly how much we could fit in there. It went better than I expected, but we left some things for purchase back home. After we finished shopping, we went across town to Marble Slab for some ice cream it was super melty because the Slab wasn’t frozen properly but it tasted good all the same.

When we finally got back home, I dropped Summer off at her car that was at the shop for an AC check and went to the junior high to unload. The girls met me there and actually got everything unloaded by the time I returned the keys I borrowed from across the building.

From there I went home and got ready to meet Hope at Front Street for her birthday. She said most of her friends bailed, so I couldn’t let myself be one of them. It was nice to catch up a bit, and I made it out for under 10 bucks.

I finally got home and walked in to a strobe light in the living room. Most of my power was out, both to ceiling lights and outlets. Some of them were supplying a little power so I could see filament burning, but they weren’t bright enough to produce any light. The outside breaker blew again too, so my air conditioning was completely out. Luckily it was cool enough outside to just open some windows around the house. The refrigerator still had power as well, so I can at least get some sleep before dealing with it tomorrow.

I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said “never yield” let another guy pass by him. I wonder if he appreciated the irony.

Tadley Poles

I took three little tadpoles to Oakland with me this morning and set them up in the windowsill. It turned out quite nice with all of the duckweed growing in the top. I’m pretty happy with it. That’s about where productivity stopped.

I spent the rest of the morning parked in the office playing This War of Mine on my phone until it was time to meet Jason and Allen at Ruby Tuesday for a $5 salad bar. Aaron and Stephanie came in shortly after I got there and ate across the aisle from us.

The afternoon was spent running between my buildings after a couple problems popped up at Oakland. Then I went to my parents’ house for some chow mein that Mom cooked up.

Back home, Aaron and another friend of his joined me for some PUBG until bed. I was rocking suppressors all night, but we still never really got very far.

I miss Strawberry Passion Awareness…

Low Key Testing

We’re testing at both of my buildings all week long. I’m assigned to Oakland, so I’m having to spend all morning there to support just a few kids per hour. It’s super ridiculous.

I never heard from anyone about lunch, so I just went home and ate some leftovers with a grilled cheese. Then I spent the afternoon taking care of the junior high.

Mom made bánh mì for dinner, then I stopped by to visit with Summer for a minute before heading home. I cleaned out a tiny betta tank so I could take a couple tadpoles to Oakland in the morning, then played some PUBG with Aaron and Jack until bedtime.

I woke up in Chris Brown’s body.

Revengers: Endless Tussle

I woke up pretty early this morning with the sun pouring in. Summer made breakfast, then we scuttled on to Conway for a bit of shopping before the movie. We only really picked anything up at Target before heading to the theater, but I finally got a new beach towel.

Infinity War was an amazing movie, so I don’t know how we’ll make it over a year to the next installment. I guess Ant Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel will have to do. I’m glad I avoided trailers and went in to mostly surprises. Now I can go back and catch up on all of that stuff after the fact.

Sam’s was closed by the time we got out, so we had to skip that. We headed home, I dropped Noah off at his Dad’s, took the girls to their place, then came home to some laundry. I tried to make some macaroni and cheese, but bugs got into the noodles and I ended up making spaghetti and cheese instead. It went okay. Tomorrow I’m going to try baking the leftovers to see how that adds to the flavor.

Let’s talk about this plan of yours. I think it’s good, except it sucks. So let me do the plan, and that way, it might be really good.

A New Kind of Pregame

I slept in pretty late today and eventually got up for some leftover breakfast from a week ago. Summer was at a quiz bowl event and brought home the junior high Coach of the Month plaque. I started to clean up one of my 55-gallon fish tanks but didn’t get super far before needing some help to move it outside. A project for another day, I suppose.

I went to Summer’s in the evening for dinner, then played some made-up games with the kids before bed. We’ve got Infinity War tomorrow afternoon, and it looks like we’ve got some shopping to do there as well.

This doesn’t make any sense!

Somebody Else’s Problem

I got around a little earlier than usual this morning, so I had an omelette for breakfast before going in to work. Once there, I helped Ryan and Gary run a line on one of Jason’s campuses. Then I helped Zach move a case full of Chromebooks from Oakland to Crawford. That pretty well got us to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings.

I spent the afternoon by myself between my buildings wrapping up whatever work orders I had gotten through the day. After work I came home and tried to find something to clean or organize, but I didn’t get too much done before Summer came over. Julie stopped in to get a flash drive from me, and then Summer and I watched The Office until bedtime.
