A Wrinkle

We all got up this morning to some poachies, sausage links, and strawberries before trekking to Conway. We caught the early afternoon showing of A Wrinkle in Time before doing a bit of shopping. The movie was okay, but I wonder how it compares to the book. At a glance, it looks like something I may actually be able to digest someday.

We wandered through Dollar Tree for a bit before heading to Sam’s to load up on some essentials for them and a 50-pound bag of popcorn kernels for me, because it’s the only way I could afford to feed this many mouths.  From there, we managed to find a compromise on a pizza at Old Chicago before failing to make it to Shoe Carnival before closing.

Cranky and tired, we made it all the way back home without any casualties. Except the popcorn. Somewhere between the store and the car, it suffered a stab wound.

Don’t go to war for me.

Need More Data

I spent all day entering fuel records for my R1. It wasn’t particularly fun, but it was nice to get it out of the way. I’m still somehow missing about a year worth of records somehow, but hopefully I can find them in a lost file somewhere.

Summer got back from her quiz bowl trip early, but I still didn’t make it back to her place until later in the evening. She made an awesome stuffed chicken breast thing for dinner, then we played Phase 10 until the girls went to bed and finished season 2 of The Office before bed ourselves.

I’m gonna chow down my vegetables!

Raze the Roof

I spent all day at work on a ladder in the ceiling. First it was a line for a panic button at Oakland, then setting up a three-room overhead speaker system at the junior high. We took a break at Brangus for lunch, but then it was right back to the junior high to finish running the speaker lines.

After work I felt so tired and gross that I took an evening shower to rest, then went to Summer’s for the evening. Fish sticks and The Office until bed.

Socks on Socks in Box

This morning went by pretty quickly. I met several of the guys at Morelos for lunch, then kept at my own projects until after school when we had to hang a touch panel for Amanda. When we got there, it really looked like it just needed to be cleaned because it hadn’t in over a year. We hung it anyway.

After work, I headed home and washed nearly every sock in the house. I was a little worried about the mix of colors, but it turned out better than expected. Afterward, I had to take Summer’s jacket to her because she forgot it when she stopped by before karate. We watched more of The Office before I came home for bed.

Just spit something out and slap it up.

The procrastination stops tomorrow.

I got a response from EyeQue customer service denying my request to grandfather my lifetime membership and functionality of the device I purchased, so I suppose after a year it’ll be worthless. I suppose I can spend more time begging, or I can just leave my scathing, semi-retaliatory review everywhere I’m able. If nothing else, it serves as a reminder to do the things now rather than later.

Summer was shadowing a kid at the middle school, which somehow meant she also got an hour for lunch, so we met at Hardee’s across town. I failed to realize she probably suggested it because there was a location right between us, but I unwittingly opted for the other location because my service has always been better there.

After work, I took the bike out to get some gas, then took my oversized shoes back to Shoe Carnival for an exchange. The new shoes fit like gloves if feet were hands. I swung by AT&T on the way out because I thought Kevin was there, but the managers were all out of town for something. Fortunately, Summer had just finished at the gym, and I got to her place right as she did. We had dinner and watched a few episodes of The Office before I came home for bed.

Go the f**k to sleep!

Sailorcycle

This morning started off pretty nice looking, but the wind picked up and didn’t hold back all day long. I rode the motorcycle to work thinking it would be less chilly in the afternoon, but the wind never let it warm up.

Gary, Heather, Sara, and I went to Brick Oven for lunch, making it two days in a row worth of pizza for me, and now I have leftovers. Then Gary came with me to the junior high to help take a look at a few things. It was a pretty laid back day overall, but I got some good things cleaned up and felt like I learned a bit in the process.

After work, I went to my parents’ house to help clean up the last of the soup, then rode home in the cold, windy darkness. I finally completed my three EueQue tests using the vision tracker I purchased several months ago. The results seemed to be pretty accurate, but I discovered the company has moved to a subscription model that means my hardware expires after one year without a renewed subscription. Evidently, if I had registered a little over a month ago, I would have been grandfathered into a lifetime subscription. I guess my only recourse is a scathing review if customer service doesn’t help me out here.

‘Cause the north wind blew south.

What are Traditions: 0x23

I got up a bit earlier than usual this morning so I could get my Birthday Slam at Denny’s. I was worried for a moment about not having the coupon printed out, but thankfully they just took my ID. Last year I got bamboozled, so I would have felt rightly stupid for messing up again.

I spent all morning running around until I inadvertently convinced Jason and Allen to go to Ci-Ci’s for BOGO all-you-can-eat pizza for $5.99. That’s a hard one to argue, but the food wasn’t as good as our last visit, except for the whole weekend-long fever thing that happened last time.

After lunch, Jason helped me run down an intercom issue at Oakland, then I spent most of the remainder of the afternoon helping set up some more stuff for Sara.

Once off of work, I headed home to set up my newly RMA’d cable modem before heading to Summer’s for dinner. She made chili in a slow cooker, then we all played Phase 8 because bedtime is a very real thing in that household.

When I got home, I stopped by Bác Vân’s to pick up some strawberries she got me for my birthday. I guess overall it went about as well as it could have.

Nobody likes you when you’re 23.

Are you serious?

We crawled out of bed this morning just in time to get some breakfast from the bar downstairs. I had just about one of everything. I only regret not making it in time for the free beer the night before.

After we got up and around, we checked out and headed into town. I thought we’d have enough time to hit the mall and the strip, but we ended up only shopping at the mall. We spent most of our time in FYE, one of the last remaining general media and entertainment retailers. Then Summer tried on some swimsuits, and I remembered why I hated shopping at Dillard’s. By the time we got out of there, it had started to sprinkle, and we decided to start heading home. We did stop for some spring water on the way out, but then we hit the road.

It cleared up pretty nicely for the trip back, and I was surprised again that we didn’t encounter any leisure riders, either by motorcycle or car. It was mostly stupid trucks. The ol’ Murano carried us back swiftly enough to make me proud, and I dropped Summer off at home before heading to my parents’ house for a pre-birthday dinner.

They tried to broil some lobster tails to go along with a hodgepodge of other food. Mom made fried rice, but didn’t fry the lobster in the rice. I had a bit of everything, just like breakfast. My sister tried to fix 30 years of incompatibility by griping at it, and I had a Coco Rico.

When I got home and unpacked, I played a couple rounds of PUBG with Clint, and almost carried us to victory, but landed second place after getting shot in the face by a bush.

You make it hard to take anything seriously.

Shiny Rocks

We decided to spend a night in Hot Springs this weekend. The weather was great, and the roads were surprisingly clear. We didn’t encounter a single motorcycle until we stopped at Iron Springs, where we got out to wander around and dig for quartz.

Once we got into greater Hot Springs, traffic had us riding the break all the way through town. It must have been a big day at the horse track, because there were a ton of people walking down the streets dressed to the nines.

We stopped by Red Lobster for dinner before finding a hotel. We probably could have gotten by way cheaper, but I decided to stay at the Staybridge Suites where we stayed for HSTI. I liked the rooms, and the girl at the counter gave us a better price than what was advertised online, so overall I was happy.

Just in time to miss the sunset!

Of Course Mine is Better

Our only group project today was to hang an 80+ inch touch panel in the training room at the high school. For some reason, it seemed fitting to have something larger and more extravagant there than what the actual classrooms have for normal daily use. It’s easy to feel bitter and compare who gets what around there. Most struggle while others roll around in needlessly wasted funds.

After work, I came home and cleaned up house before Summer came over. We binge watched The Office until bedtime, because we’re adults that do what we want.
