The Whole Famn Damily

The kids were all out today, so once Summer got done at the gym, I headed up to her place. My sister texted me shortly after I got there and invited me out to lunch with the family, so without any other plans, we decided to join them. For having everyone along, even Bác Vân, it was relatively uneventful. I ate too much, everyone got to meet everyone else, and nobody got stabbed or mortally wounded.

I was completely useless by the time we walked out of there, so Summer and I came back to my house and watched Bo Burnham’s what. on YouTube. When that was done, we watched some British panel comedies until it was time to head back to her place to receive the kids. I got to meet Nick, and we all lazed around until I needed to head home to sleep before work tomorrow.

Martin Luther King Jr. is an also-ran if only some staff gets the day off.

To live would be an awfully big adventure

I woke up with another huge headache this morning, then nursed a small one the rest of the day. When I finally got out of bed close to noon, I started playing PUBG with Clint. Most of our games were pretty quick, not getting very far, but they were all relaxing and fun. Keno joined us for a few rounds after a while until I had to get showered.

When Summer got home from her quiz bowl tournament, I headed up there and took us out to La Huerta for dinner. It went pretty well, and the molcajete was pretty tasty. I’ve had better, and their bowl was oddly porous, but it was still really good. Afterward, we all piled onto the couch and watched Hook until one by one they each passed out on top of me. Except Eaddie, who seems to have outlasted even me.

You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming?

Bodies Needed

We didn’t have much in the way of group work today. I spent most of the day trying to fix a printer issue introduced by the people that we pay to fix our printers. I’m still at a loss, and it’s more than a little frustrating.

A group of us went to Western Sizzlin for lunch, and it was definitely one of my better visits there. All of the food was fresh and not super dried out. I ate myself sick, and then threw in an ice cream cone for good measure.

In between trying to close out some of my work orders, I got a text that bodies were needed to help unload touch panels at the shop. We got two and a half pallets worth in, and fortunately not all of them are spoken-for.

After work, I came home and played a couple rounds of PUBG before heading to Summer’s for the evening. We watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and decided that we should run the full Marvel Cinematic Universe gauntlet soon.

I have a strict routine.

TellPopeyes

It was so warm again today. I spent most of the day at the shop working on a bunch of iPads. Ben, Sara, and I went to Brick Oven for lunch, and I got a big ol’ Big Italy. I can’t not order a large one of those things. They’re so delicious.

After work, I went to my parents’ house for some more fish soup, then made a stop at the junior high to take care of a couple things, and finally a quick jaunt to Summer’s before heading home to do a load of laundry for tomorrow. Once that was started, I filled out a survey for yesterday’s visit to Popeye’s, and maybe 10 minutes later I received a phone call from this evening’s shift manager. I guess I really ripped them with my comments, but I’m just so tired of coworkers dragging me there when it’s such lame service. The food’s usually pretty decent, but I shouldn’t have to ask if they have fried chicken currently available at a fried chicken restaurant. That’s retarded.

I finished the evening with a different kind of chicken dinner in PUBG with Clint, Jack, and Aaron. Clint was downed, but otherwise we all made it out alive, and it was awesome.

Only in America could a restaurant advertise a low calorie drink using a banner that says “<450 CALORIES.”

Summer Nights in January

I like simply couldn’t even this morning. I was too tired, too warm, too comfortable to get out of bed. I snoozed for an extra hour, then comped an hour of work. Once there, it was a pretty good day. It was unseasonably warm with some drizzle all day and even late into the evening. Lunch was another below average experience at Popeye’s. I don’t know why I even bother any more.

After lunch, I met with a couple of the principals and a student who had lost a Chromebook. She kept saying she left it in her Trapper Keeper, and I felt like I was going crazy. I didn’t think those had been relevant since the late 80s, but evidently they still make them in minimal, less-90’s designs.

Dinner was a weird garbage cleanup with miscellaneous Christmas crumbs and a taste of mango soup. I wrapped up the evening at Summer’s with a criminal amount of head scratchies.

AM I THE ONLY ONE CONCERNED THAT SHE APPEARS TO BE A TIME TRAVELER?!?

Slow Down and Catch Up

Today started out pretty slow, and I just rolled with it all day. I got to catch up on a few things to close out some older work orders, and had several new things come up that were relatively easy to complete. I had lunch with the girls in the library, then took it easy in the afternoon as well.

After work, I went to my parents’ house to help clean up some more leftovers. I got really frustrated with the amount of food they had that was needlessly going bad, so I stuffed myself to finish up as much as I could in a furious fit of gluttony. Then after giving myself a bit of time to make sure I wasn’t going to literally die of food poisoning, I went to Summer’s to hang out for the rest of the evening.

My hands were cold, so I had to warm up a potato.

The Payoff

I had to wake up super early this morning in order to get to work before Kevin. I wanted to set up my GoPro to catch his reaction to the computers blocking his office door. Unfortunately he beat me there, so I had to rely on security camera footage instead. He managed to get in via the door between our offices, so he wasn’t too obstructed.

After lunch, he told me he had gotten stuck in there a couple times and had to call someone to let him out. Unbeknownst to me, the door between our offices had a key on his side of the door, and hadn’t been re-keyed to match any of our master keys, so he couldn’t get back out of his office except by moving some of the computers out of the way. I made quick work getting them back to my office, but it was fun while it lasted.

After work, I went to my parents’ for some fish soup, then had to go back to work to finish up on a computer that had been giving me trouble. By the time I left, I was ready to head home. I played a few rounds of PUBG with the boys, then it was off to bed.

“He wasn’t even mad! All of this was just for a prank!”

All the Way

I tried my best not to sleep in all day. Tomorrow morning will still be a challenge, but it should be worth it.

I spent a little time catching up on bills and chores until the girls stopped by to visit. They didn’t stay long though, so I met Josh at Waffle House for a steak and eggs. I finally got those hash browns all the way.

Back home it was time for a bit of PUBG before bed.

Chili and gravy? Of course!

Mounted

I caught up on some sleep today. I didn’t wake up until just after noon. Not long after I got up, my phone mount arrived, so I went and installed it in my car. I think it looks pretty slick. I wish my phone was natively magnetic so I didn’t have to have a metal plate stuck to the back of it, but even that doesn’t look too bad. We’ll see how well it holds up in the summer heat, but so far I’m really happy with it.

Nobody was around to do anything, so I burned most of the day. Clint got on in the late afternoon and we played a couple rounds of PUBG, but that’s all we did before I left for Summer’s. She baked some breaded pork chops, grilled some corn, and boiled some mashed potatoes. I was impressed until I looked up a list of cooking techniques, and now I feel like she could have tried a little harder.

We watched Toy Story 3 thinking it was the newest one, but I forgot how many there were. I think the fourth one is the one that made everyone bawl their eyes out.

I want Waffle House so bad I can’t see straight.

Dragging Fridays

I didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night, which worsened how the workday dragged on. We spent all morning cleaning up the shop. It seemed like lunchtime came so late, even when we left early to eat. I ordered the ghost pepper wings from Popeye’s, and they tasted like the tiniest, regularest wings I’ve ever had. The blackened ranch had more spice than the wings. They were also short by two wings, which they offered to replace with two strips rather than make me wait an additional eight minutes to cook two more wings while the first ones got cold.

We got to leave an hour and a half early, so I came home to rest for a while before heading to Conway. Summer and Autumn came by for a little while until Josh showed up, then he and I headed to Chipotle, Game Point, and finally to see Jumanji. I got to see the whole thing this time without being stuck in the lobby waiting for refills. It definitely rounded out my impression of the movie. Now I’ve just got one more weekend before school’s back to normal.

The fact that I’m not Instagramming this right now is insane!
