High Class; Low Society

You want the nicest house on the block. It’s better to have high class in low society than low class in high society. I visited a recently/currently renovated McDonald’s for lunch today that was a perfect example. The self-ordering kiosks weren’t functioning yet, but the mobile ordering works well. Service and food were great because the owner was there in his McVette. It was a little funny that the manager didn’t know what I was talking about when I said I wanted to pay with Android Pay. I’ve used that method to pay for ages, and now suddenly it’s a problem because of some new floor tiles.

Back at work, I successfully installed Neverware on an old Gateway laptop, essentially turning a slow Windows machine into a faster Chromebook. Ryan was impressed enough, but nobody else was around to bear witness. Another day.

After work, I headed home and lost track of time in PUBG land again. I actually intended to go out again, but it’s probably best that I didn’t, as tired as I was this morning.

But what do white people think about the “Black Panther” movie?

No, Mister Bond. I expect you to retire.

Jesica came to town today to take me out to lunch on Arvest’s dime and talk about my retirement, or more specifically, how they would rather be the ones to hold on to it for me. It all seems a little morbid to plot out your money so that you ideally run out right as you die. For me, retirement seems more like a point in my life where I’ll reach “fuck-it” and sail away into the horizon after the sun. Presumably I’ll be raided by pirates and subsequently eaten by sharks. This seems okay.

After work, I came home and spent the evening with the boys playing PUBG. I’ve said it before, but that game really makes me want to upgrade my gaming setup. The only problem is that now I can’t stop thinking I should save every penny for retirement.

How exactly does one “win” the game of life?

Wait, you mean like… for fun?!?

I woke up and started cleaning house today. It was pretty nice outside, so Summer wanted to go for a walk. I stopped by Popeye’s to pick up the biscuits they shorted me yesterday, then picked her up to go to Bona Dea. We made a short loop around the back side of the trail, then went back to her house to wait for the girls to get home. She made dinner, then I came home to do a couple loads of laundry. I managed to squeeze in a few rounds of PUBG before bed, but never did very well. I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow.

When’s spring break again???

MOOvie Day

We continued our movie marathon today with The Incredible HulkCaptain America, and Iron Man 2. We took a break in the afternoon somewhere between the movies and picked up some Popeye’s for a late lunch. As though the universe was teaching me a lesson for continuing to do business there, they shorted us our seven biscuits and all of our dipping sauces. On top of that, the spicy chicken seemed to not be spicy at all. Even more disappointing were the ghost pepper wings I decided to try again. I’ve seriously had ice cream spicier than those wings. At least the chicken was fresh and hot in temperature, unlike the fries that were cold and soggy.

By the time everyone left, I needed some time to unwind. Jack got on and played a few duos with me, and though we got close, we never won. I guess tomorrow I’ll clean house again. I don’t know why I thought chicken grease wouldn’t end up on all the things.

Don’t get crazy.

Someone Who Does Family Nights

We didn’t have much going on at work today. I got caught up on a bunch of random work orders, then met up with everyone for lunch. A big group of us tried to walk to Madame Wu’s, but they were closed in spite of their open sign. I got a message kind of late saying to go home half an hour early, but I was too busy wrapping things up myself.

Summer brought all the kids over to start watching the Marvel movies, and we started with the first Iron Man. I had planned to watch The Incredible Hulk as well, but the kids wanted to play Drawful instead. We did that, then started some other Steam games until we settled on BattleBlock Theater. It was pretty fun, and worked fine to tire everyone out. We’ll continue our movie binge tomorrow.

Smoked butter?

Buy One, Get One

It was my turn at Oakland for their second day of testing today. I had a couple things to do there, so it wasn’t a complete bust. Plus I like spending time with my girls in the office. Sheri bought a huge pot of chili from the Wesley Foundation, but hardly anyone donated, so I had lunch there to do my part. It was pretty good chili, but she had a ton to take home with her.

I made it back to the shop for the very last part of the day, but didn’t get any farther than that. I headed home after work and tried to clean up a little before the weekend. Bác Vân called with eggrolls, and I visited with her for a bit before the girls came by and completely demolished them.

After they left, I played a double in PUBG with Jack, and we both made it out alive with our chicken dinner. Then we played a squad game with Josh and Adam and won that one as well, making for back-to-back chickey chickey din dins. Our third game was sort of close, but I blame the loss of our fourth game entirely on Adam, because he did the exact opposite of every single thing I said.

Is this thing even on???

Curb Appeal

It was another uneventful day of testing at the junior high. I didn’t even get to any other campus because I had enough stuff there to keep me busy. I’ll have to be at Oakland tomorrow anyway.

I tried the McDonald’s app ordering again today, and I think it went better than last time. I parked in one of the curbside pickup spots and checked in, then received my food in less than half of a Fleetwood Mac song. In hindsight, I really missed my opportunity to get a Big Mac in half a Mac.

After work, I went to my parents’ for dinner, then to Summer’s to visit for a while before heading home to bed.

Subway Time Trials

A new way of doing things.

Testing started again today at the junior high. I grabbed my toaster and slush on the way in, and was met with virtually no real trouble to speak of. With testing complete, I met up with Ryan and Dale at Subway, where I was greeted by a new way of doing things. I appreciate the saving of plastics, but it did make taking my leftovers a little more difficult.

Lunch didn’t stick around for long, and ribs for dinner at my parents’ didn’t do me any favors either. I didn’t feel like much of anything in the evening, so I stayed in and played some more PUBG with the guys. It’s testing day two of three tomorrow, but I don’t anticipate any more trouble than I had today. I’ll save that for Thursday.

Drop into work and get hit by a Hyundai.

Toaster

I started out this morning with a bacon, egg, and cheese toaster and large cranberry slush from Sonic for $1.99. They’ve got this deal going on all week, so I’ll consider breakfast planned.

I didn’t have much going on today. I spent most of it at the junior high, but came home on my lunch break. I didn’t feel up to eating anything then, but I snacked on some shrimp chips at work in the afternoon.

After work, I went to my parents’ house for some phở, then came home to install my new shower head that came in the mail. Hopefully it sprays with some decent pressure, and not like the shower is peeing on me. Then PUBG carried me to an early bedtime for testing in the morning.

At least I can look forward to another toaster in the morning.

Dinner with Folks

Summer wanted to invite my parents to her house for dinner today, so the kids spent all afternoon cleaning up. She marinated some chicken and made a pineapple mango salsa, along with some pico, guacamole, and a nice salad. I steamed rice, because stereotypes are humorous.

After my parents left, we watched some Primitive Technology until the girls went to bed, then I went home to play PUBG with the boys before heading to bed myself.
