Happy Halloween! Today started out alright. I woke up and got to school in plenty of time. We didn't do much in English, but we have a test tomorrow over The Canterbury Tales. I still haven't read the part we're testing over yet. We took a quiz in calculus, and I think I missed the second problem, which would knock my grade down to a measly 50%. Mrs. Raines had chips and dip for us in advisory again, so that was pretty fun. Somehow I got cheese and what looked like chocolate on the back of my shirt. I don't know if someone put it there or ate over me, or accidentally got it on me when they touched me. It washed out for the most part. The rest of the day went on as usual. After school, I walked Rachel Trusty and Beth Scott out to their cars. I had a bit of a scare looking into Rachel's car. I couldn't see anything but my reflection, so I slowly moved in closer and closer to the glass, and my reflection slowly blended into her face staring at me with wide brown eyes. That totally freaked me out. After I got home, I gathered up the parts to my costume and later went out with Kelli Henderson, Nikki Holbrook, Nikki Barr, and Phillip Choi. Later, Sarah Hindsman caught up with us, and we went around for a little while just hanging out in different places. We didn't get much candy, but I had a blast. After we went trick-or-treating on Deer Run, both Nikkis and I went to Higher Grounds to hang out for a little while until Kelli, Sarah, and Phillip went to pick up Eric Duerr from his first day at work at McDonalds (Congratulations, by the way!). After that, Sarah, Eric, Kelli, Phillip, and I all went to my house for absolutely no reason. We had planned to go trick-or-treating on Skyline, but we didn't. After sitting around my room for a little bit, we decided to go back to McDonalds so someone could pick up a check, and then the rest of the guys were going to go to Kelli's house for a little pizza party. Before we went back though, Kelli, Phillip, and I went over to Jared Fitzgibbon's house to talk to him for a couple minutes. He agreed with me. I really WAS just a big black thing. Then we went to McDonalds, and called it a night. Nikki Holbrook went off to Higher Grounds instead of going to my house, so on the way back home I stopped in there to hang out for a bit. Everyone was there. Mitch Graham, Erin Clayborn, Gary Metz, Thomas Hollingsworth, Jon Robison, Aaron Taylor, Renae McCloud, and a whole slew of other people. It was quite different from less than an hour before when Nikki, Nikki, and I were there by ourselves. After hanging out for a bit, Nikki, her boyfriend Bryan, and I decided to call it a night, so I went home and started reading The Canterbury Tales, like I should be doing now. I couldn't very well go without writing a log for today though, could I? And what's one test in English? I should be alright.

Earlier, my attention was brought to an error in yesterday's log. It was indeed I, not Jared, that asked Jared to make a better version of the "Guns don't kill..." bumper sticker. I also meant to make "Penny-Arcade" a hyperlink, but forgot. Since I've completely sworn off correcting past logs at a later date, I'm simply correcting my errors in today's log. Please forgive me, oh humble visitor of the Galloping Cow.

Today had its ups and downs. I got to school early, which was good. We didn't do much in English, calculus, or history, which was good. Everything felt busy though. Everyone's mad in yearbook because we're already past a deadline and we haven't mailed the stuff off yet. After developing 4 rolls of film, I went on to physics where we did more of nothing. After school I went over to the stage and talked with Rachel Trusty for a little while before she decided to leave. She seemed happy to give anyone a hug but me. Oh well. I get all the love I need from my computer. I figure if I keep saying that, I'll eventually believe it. After I got home, I screwed around on the computer some, and tried to kill Jared Fitzgibbon in as many ways as I could. Unsuccessful at that, I screwed around some more instead of working on my calculus or history paper due in the beginning of December. I think I'll live.

A couple days ago, Jared I asked Jared to make a better version of the "Guns don't kill people; Kids who play video games kill people," bumper sticker, because I felt the one on Penny-Arcade was too dark and plain. I promised him to put them up on the page, but haven't had the time to do so until now. So without further adieu, I present to you, for your viewing pleasure, the Paint Shop Pro artwork of Jared Fitzgibbon:

I almost didn't get a log written for today. I started to go to bed and almost forgot all about it. I woke up this morning pretty early because I went to sleep last night with the lights and computers on. When everyone else eventually got up, they decided they wanted to go to New China for lunch. On the way home from that, I saw Nikki Holbrook and Christi Bauer standing outside McDonalds talking, but since my dad was driving, I couldn't stop by to see them. When I got home, I beeped both of them at the same time, thinking it would be cool if they both got beeped with the same number at the exact same time. After a little while, I heard the phone ringing over my music, but by the time I picked it up, I guess the person on the other end hung up. I still don't know if it was one of them or not. I tried calling Christi's house, but there was no answer, and I couldn't get a hold of anyone that knew Nikki's new number. I decided since I didn't have anything planned, I'd just have the party later this week on one of the nights we have off of school. I'll have to talk to the others about when would be best. Later in the evening, I was having problems with all three computers. My sister's wouldn't grab an IP for some reason, the Hewlett Packard wouldn't even boot up to Windows, and the new Dell had problems with locking up when it was booting, as well as some other minor problems. One good thing happened though. I got the Packard Bell remote control working on the Dell, so I can sit back and control things like my CD player, Winamp, FM radio, or even control my mouse if I can see what I'm doing from way back in bed. Right after I got the remote working, there was a world broadcast premier of the movie SPAWN, so I had to go watch it. When it was over, I started my calculus homework that I should have been doing all weekend, but haven't. I guess tomorrow's just going to be a busy catch-up day for me.

10-28-00

Boy was today a long day. I didn't wake up on time this morning because my computer locked up and gave me a blue screen of death instead of booting up and playing my Winamp alarm. Luckily I made it in time for the ACT. Something weird happened. I didn't finish my math, but I totally finished my reading. I don't think that's ever happened before. Then when we got to have our brake, it was less than 5 minutes before the lady started the testing again, so half of the room didn't even make it back in time. After all the testing was done, I came home for a while before I had to take my sister to church. On the way home, I stopped by Nikki Holbrook's old house since I saw her bug outside. I tried to help clean up a bit, but I think I got in the way more than I helped. Christi Bauer beeped Nikki, and since she didn't have a phone in the house, we decided to just go drop in to see what was up. After that, I came back home for a while and played games until I had to go pick up my sister from her church thing. I took her friends Lyadonna and Marry home, and then took her and her remaining friend Andrea to Wal-Mart. I dropped them off and then went over to JC Penney to talk to Nikki Barr for a while. After that I was going to go see Eric Moore and maybe Sarah Hindsman if she was still at Hastings working, but I guess Eric got off of work and he came over while I was still talking to Nikki. Eventually my sister and Andrea came back wanting to go to the coffee shop, so I took them and went on home again. After my mom got back home, she sent me out to pick them up, and I've been playing around on the computer ever since. I got bored and made this bumper sticker, blatantly copying the idea from a Penny-Arcade strip.

I had planned to have a small get together tomorrow sometime, but I don't know if it's going to happen. Nikki Barr reminded me that we have Thursday and Friday off of school this week, so I may just give up the party on Sunday and move it to one of those nights we have off. My schedule's just so hectic that I haven't really had time to plan stuff out. I'll probably just call everyone to let them know when the party will be. If anyone has any suggestions on what we could do at the party, please contact me. As of now, I have NOTHING PLANNED.

10-27-00

Today was just another regular day. It started out pretty badly though. When I woke up, I was unbelievably pissed at my dad. It turns out that last night he decided to make himself a profile and user account on the new computer, so this morning instead of waking up to my Winamp alarm clock, I woke up to my biological alarm clock and found that Winamp didn't start because I had to log on. I got rid of my dad's profile, but the boot time is still about 20 seconds longer than it should, and 50% of the time when you turn the computer on, it either freezes or just reboots as soon as windows loads. Then when I made it to school, nobody was sitting around the table in the morning before class though. In English, we went to the computer lab again to work on practice ACT questions. Then in calculus, Mrs. Heflin wasn't there again. Although I wish her well, I'm rather glad she wasn't there today, because I really needed some time to rest. This week has just been too busy for me. In history, we went to the library like the others did yesterday while I was taking pictures of Mrs. Raines's class. I didn't really have anything to do in yearbook, so I spent 5th and 6th periods just goofing around for the most part. Then in physics we did a worksheet. After school, I had to go take a picture for a yearbook ad, and then later I had to take pictures of senior night at the football game. It was interesting, but it sucked, especially since I have to take the ACT tomorrow. I have to relearn how to use a TI-85 before the test. We won the game, and I saw Eric Duerr, Sarah Hindsman, Kelli Henderson, Rachel Bewley, and Jennifer Hawkins there. I think I saw Phillip Choi in the stands, but I'm not sure. After that was all over, I came home and got ready for bed. It's 1:00, and I need some rest before I have to get up and take the ACT tomorrow. Boy is it going to suck.

10-26-00 (Edited for content - See Nov. 27, 2000)

Another day goes by as precious time slips through our fingers. Nothing out of the ordinary today. I saw Rachel Trusty in the hallway on the way to first period English. It was the first time in a long time that she actually looked happy to see me. That's always a nice self-esteem booster. Turns out she's been sick this week. And I just figured she had been hiding somewhere in class or something. Glad you're feeling better though, Rachel. In other good news, Nikki Holbrook is still alive. She's even gotten a bit better, and has started showing up at school again. It's great to have you back, Nikki! Mrs. Heflin wasn't there for calculus, so we just did a worksheet in there instead of a quiz like she promised. I got called out of history 4th period to take pictures of Mrs. Raines's class doing their little presentations on The Canterbury Tales. Then I went back to take pictures of another class doing the same thing 6th period. After all that was done, I got to go relax in physics. Mrs. Little came in to steal me away because she needed me to run an errand for her. I had to go take in a roll of film. After that I got back about 10 minutes before the end of 7th period, and I walked in to physics as everyone else was working on a quiz. Mr. Bradley handed it to me and I finished it in about 5 minutes or so. Then after school I just played around on the computer until I had to go to Wal-Mart for some toothpaste and then go pick up my sister from the junior high football game. While we were out, my dad told me he found out how much my mom is in debt to the casinos. She owes about <Dollar Amount Removed>. I suppose it could be worse. Later (In fact, right now as I write this log), I got on and saw Nikki Holbrook on MSN for the first time in a long time. We talked (are talking) for a while, and then I imagine I'll go to sleep or something, as I usually do before I go to school the next day.

10-25-00 (Edited for content - See Nov. 27, 2000)

I could really use a week off right about now. There's simply too much going on right now. This morning started out alright. I finally got my computers set up the way I want them for now, or at least the new one. Then Carrie Harris and Eliesha Sears called wanting me to come help them do some stuff for yearbook. Completely motor vehicle-less, they said they'd come pick me up. After they got me, we went to school and found everyone else had gone to lunch. After a couple minutes of working, the power went out, so we decided to go out to Sonic. When we got back, some of the others were there. We worked some more. Then someone called over the intercom to say they were giving away cake in the home economics room. Everyone from yearbook ran blazing through the halls. I think we trampled two or three teachers along the way. After that we worked some more. Then Ryan Bills took me around to some places I needed to get ad pictures from, and then he dropped me off at home. I started moving everything around on my desk, and I think I like it much better this way. The new computer still doesn't have everything I need on it, but it's coming along nicely.

10-24-00

Today was insanely normal. English went by. Calculus went by. Advisory went by. EAST lab went by. History went by. Yearbook went by. Study hall in the darkroom went by. Physics went by. Nothing happened. Nikki Holbrook decided to come visit us again, but I don't think she was feeling much better. After school I came home to screw around on my computers. The new Dell has seemingly, hopelessly lost all of its pre-installed Dell software. I hate that. Dell wasn't smart enough to give me copies of the programs. Instead, they just had a program pop up telling me to make 17 floppies for backup purposes. I'm sorry, but that's just horribly gay. I want my nifty pre-installed programs back, and I don't want to have to make 17 floppies in order to keep them backed up. While going through three different operating systems on the Dell, my parents were away at parent-teacher conferences. They brought back nothing but good reports for some reason, and yet I still don't get rewarded. How rude. Nothing else happened tonight, except a guy from DeVry Institutes called to talk to me a bit. He sounded like he was interested at first, but then gave up when I wasn't sure about wanting to skip the basic courses to head straight into my major. Oh well. I didn't like the name of that school anyway.

10-23-00

Nothing special happened today. I dozed off in both first period English and second period Calculus. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to sleep. Other than that, nothing memorable happened. After school I took Carlos Meredith home with us for a while until he had to go to work. I went over to Thomas Hollingsworth's to make myself a nice length of cat-5 networking cable. We talked for a while about computer stuff and making money or getting free stuff from companies. That sounds like a lot of fun. I do have to say now though, that I have a lot more respect for the guy. I now see how much work he had to go through, and the skills he has that have helped him get to where he is now. He's not just a lazy computer nerd downloading stuff off of IRC all the time. He actually works for most of it. Too bad he never does his history homework.

Now I have the new computer up and running fairly smoothly with Windows 2000. It's working with internet, and now everything's just peachy. I had a problem with Service Pack 1, but I'm reinstalling it now to see if I can fix it. If not, I guess I'll just have to go without the Service Pack.

10-22-00

Today's been considerably dull compared to the last couple of days. I woke up from my little slumber on the couch with all the lights on, and soon developed quite a headache. Then I came into my room and played around on the computers. I don't remember exactly what I've done all day, but basically that's all I did all day. I'm liking my new computer more and more every time I get on it. It's got a spacious 10 gig hard drive, and it runs Unreal Tournament more smoothly without a graphics accelerator card than this old AMD K6 II 450 does with a Voodoo 3 2000. I can't wait until I get to upgrade it. To top that off, 256 megs of PC100 SDRAM is down to about $93, and I can now get a SoundBlaster Live! Platinum for about $145. I'm hoping to get one of those soon too. After that I can upgrade the processor to a lively 1 GHz. I'm excited. This is the first time in years I've actually liked my life. I hope we don't have a lot to do tomorrow in school, because I want to go to Compute to get a network card and some cable so I can add my new computer to the network.

10-21-00

Right now I'm almost too tired to do a log. I keep finding myself dozing off here in my char. I'm still tired from Kelli's party, which was on Friday night rather than Saturday like I thought. The first thing I did this morning was to go to the Tech thing. After about 2 minutes of that, I decided I was bored and went on towards the school to help with the yearbook. On the way, I saw my sister holding up a sign for the band's free car wash. She tried to flag me down, and then screamed when she looked closer and noticed it was me. When I finally got to school, everyone on the yearbook staff was in a bad mood. I spent most of my time in the darkroom. Then I left to take a picture of Kit Brown's bedroom. When I got home I noticed that I had received a letter from my friend Melanie Tompkins. Now I just need to see if I can put her picture on this page. After going out to take a picture of Kit's room, I went back to the school for a little while before everyone decided to give up for the day.

In other news, my mom called earlier and said she was going to send the computer home on the bus tonight. It's now sitting behind me on the desk. It turned out to be an older model of a Pentium III 500 MHz computer. It's got enough room so I can upgrade pretty easily, although I haven't actually looked inside yet. I suppose I should be more excited than I am right now, but I'm just too tired. Jared came over and we had a tiny two-person LAN party. Next thing I do will be to do a clock test on the new computer. Right now I'm too tired to turn the stupid thing back on.

10-20-00

I don't know where to begin about today. We did more of the same old thing all day. I didn't have much to do in journalism, so I went around with Jessica Brown to different classes to get lists of people in school clubs. After that I went to develop a roll of film. Mr. Lonon's class wasn't doing anything as usual, so I went in there to hang out while my film was developing. After school I had to go to the Sequoyah Fun Fair to take pictures of the art club painting faces. I got a lot of great pictures, I hope. It was the first time I had ever used a flash on that camera. Then after that was over, I raced Beth Scott to my car. She won because she was actually driving while I was running. What a cheater. After that I came home to get ready to go to the party at Kelli Henderson's place. My dad said my mom called from Tunica, and told me that she said she won me a new computer. I'm kind of excited about that, but I'm wondering how she's going to get the thing home on the bus. When I finally got to the party, Kelli said she got into a wreck right after school. Luckily nobody got hurt too badly. I don't think she let it ruin her party though. We all still had a great time. Things got a little weird when Mrs. Little's son Caleb showed up with a couple other guys at the party. After school I went to talk to Mrs. Little in the journalism room as usual, and Caleb came in to tell her he wouldn't be home right away from whatever he was going out to do. Then he showed up at the party. It wasn't too bad, but I did learn a few things I could have gone without. It was a great party though. Food, drinks, music, dancing, and twister. Rachel Bewley kept wanting to play strip twister. She was completely obsessed with it the entire night. I told her if she wanted to strip down that much, she could go streaking through the woods. Then finally, around 2:00, Kelli decided it was time to kick me out. I came on home and watched TV for a bit, dozed off, and then got back up to take a shower around 5:30. Then I went to sleep in my bed for a little while. Now it's 9:32 and I shouldn't be writing this log because I'll wind up having one huge log for 20th through the 21st, and that just wouldn't be right.

10-19-00

Not much happened today. We worked on practice ACT questions in English, went over some new stuff in calculus, and did some more busy work in history. I didn't have much to do in journalism either, so Janine and I went to look at her contact sheet that she made yesterday, and then I talked to the iMacs for the next two periods. They scared me at first, but I think I'm getting used to them. Maybe I'm turning gay. I don't know what's happening to me. Then we did more "work" in physics. After school I came home and played around on the computer some. Then I decided I'd try to fix the problem with Internet Explorer 5 spreading out my links on the left side of the page. I've decided to just use a single image map for that, which will solve my problem perfectly. Then I added Kelli Henderson's party to the News page and added a link to Jason Huynh's site, which looks strangely familiar in style, to the Links page. Other than that, there's not much happening.

10-18-00

Today seemed overly boring. We didn't have real class in English or calculus. Mr. Lemley surprised us by having the substitute give us a pop quiz today over the first lesson of the chapter. Nobody expected that. Lemley's never done anything like that before. Yearbook was boring too, so I took it upon myself to scare the heck out of Janine Randles in the darkroom. She needed to make a contact sheet of her negatives I developed yesterday, so we did that and then I just wandered around a bit until physics when we did a worksheet. Rachel Trusty decided to come to school with a new hairdo. From a distance it looked almost like dreadlocks or something. It was nice and interesting. After school I had to go to the Lady Cyclones' volley ball game to get some pictures for yearbook. It wasn't too bad, and this is the only time I'll have to take pictures of one. After coming back home and not seeing anyone online, I actually started thinking about doing homework. Then I came to my senses and started working on this log instead. I hope someone comes on soon to talk to me.

10-17-00

Nothing greatly special happened today. We took a test in English that I think I did alright on. The history test sucked. Then in journalism, Mrs. Little was stressing over the yearbook. Things seem to have gone completely insane in there right now. I think I'm the only one in there that's keeping my cool right now. Maybe it's because I'm not working on too many deadlines like everyone else. Maybe it's just because I'm so darned spiffy that way. I spent more time in the darkroom, cleaning things up and developing some film. The rest of the day was pretty normal. I got home and played around until it was time to go to Rebecca Kistler's place to take a picture of her room for the yearbook. Then I came home and played around some more until I decided I needed to start on my calculus homework. I don't think I'm going to finish it tonight either. I'm just not really in the mood for homework right now. My good friend Melanie Tompkins in Tennessee came on to talk to me some. She's finally sending me her senior picture of she and her horse, Kai. It's only been around two years since I first asked her, and I'm finally getting to see her. It'll be cool. I'm excited. I'm trying to convince her to let me put it on my pictures page. I think she'll probably let me, but we'll just have to see. I guess that's it for today. This log's long enough anyway. No need to lengthen it up with useless information (as if any of these logs had any importance information anyway).

10-16-00

Today's been pretty boring for the most part. In English, we did a grammar worksheet for the student teacher. In calculus we just went over some new stuff in derivatives. I finished my study guide for history, and I've been trying to read the chapter all night. I haven't done my calculus homework yet, but I think I can have it by class time tomorrow. I spent another couple hours in the darkroom today, developing two rolls of film and working on making some prints. After school I had to go to Brittany Allison's house to take a picture of her bedroom for the yearbook. Apparently we're taking pictures of anything people want us to take pictures of in their rooms. Tomorrow I think I'm going to get Rebecca Kistler's pictures, and then on Saturday I'll be getting some from Kit Brown. Life's just darned spiffy, despite how sucky it almost always is. I decided to stop by Rachel Trusty's after I was done taking the pictures of Brittany's room. Beth Scott, who was on the phone with Rachel at the time, seemed a bit surprised to hear I had actually popped up at Rachel's door for no apparent reason. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that one. Rachel and I sat and talked for a bit about random things. She and Chris Sanderock appear to be in a serious relationship now, so I wish them the best of luck. They're both great people, and are very lucky to have each other. Back to the original reason for stopping by at Rachel's: I wanted to check and see if she wanted me to get a picture of her room for the yearbook, although she didn't exactly sign up. I know she's got paintings and different creations all over her walls. She decided against it, since Hurricane Life apparently came through and scattered miscellaneous items of clothing all over the room, so I'm told. After talking for a bit, I left her to finish her AP reading and whatnot. I just drove on home and played around a bit on the computer until I decided it was time to start studying. Now it's late, and I'm still not quite finished reading history, and haven't even started calculus. Guess it's time to stop writing my log and get to work, eh?

10-15-00

Today I woke up around noon, thanks to my dad standing in my doorway saying the worlds "New China" over and over again. I hate it when he does that. I wasn't even hungry. Needless to say, we went to New China to eat. My fortune cookie was rather ironic for the day, because all day I've been in somewhat of a bad mood with a completely anti-social attitude towards everything. The fortune read, "The social scene can be fun today." After that bit of joy and excitement, we went over to my aunt's house so I could get a haircut. Then we came home and I went over to give Jared a CD I burned for him. One of the tracks was screwed up, so I've got to try to fix it and then give it back to him. After coming back home and wrestling my mom off the computer, I played some Half-Life, killed some ugly aliens, and died a few times...alright, several times...but who asked you... I played around looking for things to tweak in Windows. After getting bored some more, I made this cool little pirate flag to use for the texture in my "Floating Objects" screensaver. I kind of like it. The top one is a screenshot of the actual screensaver in action, and the bottom one is just what the flag looks like completely flat.

10-14-00

I was just sitting here surfing the web a bit when I realized I hadn't written a log for today. I guess I've just got my mind on other things. I woke up around noon and took a shower. Then I got on the computer and played Counter-Strike with Jared some. After actually killing a couple people, we played a game of StarCraft. The entire day's been like that. I burned a couple CDs, chatted some, watched TV, played games. It's just been a lazy day. My right middle toe feels weird. The front and bottom part of it are numb, so it feels like it's stuck in a little hole in the floor whenever I walk. Oh well. Later I helped Susi fix her ICQ. Now I'm just sitting here staring at my screen. Life sucks. I think I'll go suck an egg.

10-13-00

Today was a day I hope I'll soon forget. Classes were easy, but I just wasn't in a great mood. I had to take pictures all afternoon of the pep rally, the homecoming parade, the football game, and then I went to the dance. Brandon Vaughn and Danny Jackson were both there to take pictures, so I didn't bother. I even paid my 3 bucks to get in. I feel somewhat cheated though. Oh well. Kelli Henderson, Sarah Hindsman, Eric Duerr, Nikki Barr, Eric Moore, and Phillip Choi were all there dancing around. I didn't dance more than I had to. Dances never seem to be much fun for me. I think I'm going to go to bed now. I don't feel well.

10-12-00

I think I just swallowed an elephant. Actually, I don't feel like I just swallowed an elephant, but I figured if I could get your attention in a really creative way, saying that would be the best way. Right now I'm not feeling too well. I've got a head cold, so my head's all stopped up. I can't breathe and I'm tired. School went pretty well today. We had another fairly slow day. I actually can't remember much about it right now, except I went to my first art club meeting right after first period and sat up on the counter with Matt Kobbs, Carrie Harris, and Beth Scott. Rachel Trusty decided to skip out to go to a student council meeting instead. We all had this crazy idea that she loved art, but I guess she loves student council more (Hee hee.. Just teasing, Rach..). Later, in the EAST lab, I finished making my explosion in LightWave. It kind of sucked, so I'm ready to move on to something else now. In the afternoon, I spent a bunch of time in the dark room just working on different stuff. The journalism room got 4 new iMacs, all blue, and all with gay little optical mice which don't really have buttons. From the looks of it, the entire mouse was a button in itself. I screamed hysterically at first sight of them. After that was all over, I didn't really feel like going out after school to take pictures of volley ball or float building, so while at home I burned a CD while I took a nice little nap. Jared got his new computer parts in, so he went over to Thomas Hollingsworth's place to get some help piecing it all together. From what I hear, it's pretty nifty and smooth and stuff. I want one.

Today was somewhat tiresome to say the least. It all started out all right, but got a little bit hectic later in the day. My sister, Julie (This is the first time I've ever actually given her name on the web site...And there was great rejoicing...yay...), said she wanted to get to school on time today because she had things to do. We actually got there later than usual, which is typical of her. Every time she says she wants to go early, we actually get there late. We finished the Quest for the Holy Grail in English, worked on our tests in calculus, took an open book test in history, and then it was just more typical nothingness after lunch. I spent most of the afternoon in the darkroom doing some test strips. When I was done with that, I made some more developer. After school I procrastinated a bit and then took my sister to church. On the way home, I met my dad at Hastings so we could leave the van for my mom to come back home. Later when she got home, it turns out she left her wallet in the hotel room with her keys. Luckily they found them, but I still think she was an idiot. "Oh, I know. Lets go to the casinos all the time and not only loose our money, but also leave our credit cards, keys, and green card there too!" In the infamous words of Charlie Brown, "Good grief!" While working on my calculus test, I spent the evening fiddling around on the computer. Things with the computer are working out pretty well tonight, so I'm happy. Downloads are chugging along as fast as they can. Hopefully I'll have some more stuff to burn onto CD by tomorrow.

Yesterday I failed to mention that I ran into the infamous Grant Merrill at the band's marching contest. He decided to come into town to visit his lady friend, so I stopped to talk for a quick second before I went up to find a good place to take pictures from. It was good to see him again. I still need to take him his Spring Supplement for last year's yearbook. I guess that'll give him some incentive to come into town a bit more often.

10-10-00

Well, this seems all interesting and fun. This morning I woke up a few times before I was supposed to. My stupid ICQ kept making sounds every time I got an E-Mail. It was horrible. I was in away mode. It's not supposed to make sounds when I'm in away. Sheesh. Then I got up and went to school. Super heroes galore. I should have dressed up to be a super villain. You have to have villains, or there would be no heroes. The day went by without much work. More Monty Python in English, work on a take-home test in calculus, and work on a worksheet in history. In yearbook I made a couple contact sheets of some negatives we had in there. After that I went over to Mr. Lonon's class for a little while, trying my best not to be seen. I had him last year, and I always liked him, but for some reason he never seems too happy to see me. I talked with the guys in the back corner for a bit, went over to talk to "Mrs. Rachel Sanderock" for a bit (about 2 seconds), and then ran out the door. In physics we did more worksheets, only this time they were vocabulary rather than problems to work out. After school I went over to Rick's Auto Sales to take a picture for yearbook. Then I came back home and waited around until I had to go to the band's marching contest. I called Susi to see if Hector was going to come down to march, but she said they sucked so bad they don't go. Then internet went down for a while, so I watched TV before I had to go out and take pictures of the marching contest in the freezing cold. After that, I took my sister's friend Matt home. Then we came home and I've been sitting around instead of working on my calculus test. It feels like a Friday night after a football game, except this time we actually won something. I don't want to go to school tomorrow.

10-9-00

Today was petty easygoing. In first period English, we watched Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. You've gotta love that movie. Then in calculus, we checked over homework and just reviewed, with no homework. In history, I did my one minute report and turned in my paper, and worked some book work until the end of class. The rest of the day was really laid back. After school I had to wait for my sister to get out of band practice at 4, so among other things I talked to Rachel Trusty for a little while and walked her out to her car. Looks like she and Chris Sanderock are very, very, very, very close now. Congrats to the both of them. After that, I went back in and downstairs to talk to Mrs. Little for a little while. We just talked about miscellaneous stuff until she decided to go and it was time for my sister to get out of band. We came home and found my aunt here uncovering the plants out back. We had put a tarp over them to keep them from freezing too badly last night. She went home and then I just came in and played on the computer for a bit. Jared and I played a couple games of StarCraft. Shortly after we quit the second game, Cox went down, and it's been down ever since. I don't know if I'll get to upload this page tonight or not. Through it all, I'm STILL unable to go to http://www.cox-internet.com from this computer. Nobody else has this problem. Why do I? Being without internet, I decided to go watch some TV. Susi called and said she lost her Internet She had been using someone else's account, and she said the password had been changed. Poor baby, now you'll actually have to pay for your service like the rest of us. Seems she's also gotten herself into somewhat of a boy-mess. Better keep those straying eyes down and that jabber-mouth shut, babe. I just finished a single player skirmish against two computers in StarCraft. Now I'm bored again, so I'm going to do my homework and pray the internet's back up before the end of the night.

10-8-00

This morning was all right aside from a few computer problems. All day I haven't been able to go to http://www.cox-internet.com. It loads fine for everyone else, but neither Netscape or Internet Explorer will load it for me. I have no idea why, and I'm rather pissed about it all. I can still FTP and update this page, but I can't see it myself, which is rather upsetting, seeing how it's my IE start page. Anyway, we all got up and got ready to go to Fort Smith for the magic club meeting there. My mom decided to stay home, but we brought along my sister's friends Lyadonna, who spent the night, and Andrea. The meeting was fairly small, but when people started showing up it turned out to be all right. Before anyone else got there though, my dad and I looked through some old records the library had for sale. Among the tables full of records, I found an old Messiah record that my dad told me to grab. I stuck it on top of a stack to pick it up later, and then another guy came by and took it. Later I felt guilty because I had just stuck it there beside me instead of giving it to my dad so he could add it to his stack. I'm still feeling guilty. I'm going to go to Ebay to see if I can find another set. It was a nifty looking package they came in, and we had planned to get it, but the other guy scrambled through the stacks and took it. I'm just mad about it now. I probably shouldn't be, but that set was just really nifty. After the meeting we went to pick up my sister and her friends. A couple of them, including my sister, got thongs at Gadzooks. EEK! *shivers* I just don't want to think about that. Then we all went to Chuck E Cheese's and had some good pizza. My selfish little imp of a sister took the 11 tokens and divided them up among her friends. I got over that though. Then I drove home, not getting to stop by Best Buy. I started working on my history report right away, and finished it fairly easily. I had trouble concentrating on it though because I kept thinking back to not getting those records like my dad and I wanted to. Oh well. Nothing to say for it now.

10-7-00

Nothing overly great happened today. I woke up around 9 I think, and took a shower. I normally take showers at night, but I dozed off around 4:00 in the morning last night and didn't feel like taking a shower at the time. I played around with some different options for a guest book, forum, and web mail, but nothing worked out the way I wanted it to. I'm still not sure what I'll do for those pages. Hopefully I'll figure out something soon, because otherwise the only reason people would come here is to read my boring daily logs. Later in the evening I got bored and started taking screenshots of my desktop to make it go back to infinity like a mirror. You can take a look at it on the Pictures page under Miscellaneous. After that I decided to go watch some TV while we're getting the Starz free trial period. I just finished watching Mystery Men. It was a pretty good movie. My sister has her friend Lyadonna over to spend the night tonight. How very joyous for me. I got to clean the bathroom. Why doesn't my sister have to clean the bathroom when I have friends over? Yeah, OK, so maybe I don't have friends over very often, but still. Absolutely nothing happened today, but I guess I'm in a fairly good mood. Jared and I played a bit of StarCraft: Brood War. We won our game against two computers, so that was pretty fun. Now I'm just sitting back and chilling to some tunes. I think I'm going to lay down now. God bless!

10-6-00

I've been felling really strangely lately. Not exactly good, but not really bad either. I'm just confused. This morning I took my mom to her sister's house so she could go to Tunica again. Surprise, surprise. I didn't get to school as early as I wanted to, but I wasn't really late. First period we had problems getting the presentation to work AGAIN. A joint effort between Dustin Summey, Bryan Bramlett, and I got everything up and working like it was all supposed to. When I got to the fake blue screen of death in the presentation, Dustin's expression was great. The irony of the blue screen and the fact that I've had so many problems getting the presentation to work was great. Calculus was a bit boring. Then I got out of third, fourth, fifth, and sixth periods to help take makeup pictures for yearbook. That was pretty fun. During first lunch, I went to see Rachel Trusty's gang over at their lunch table. Jeff Green was kind enough to grab me by the neck and try to strangle me. Everyone seemed to urge him on. Oh well. When second lunch came along, I went out to see my gang for a little while, and they were all split up. Eric Duerr, Sarah Hindsman, Kelli Henderson, and Rachel Bewley were all sitting in the sun while Nikki Barr, Nikki Holbrook, and Christi Bauer were sitting in their normal spots. The first group said they were just trying to warm up in the sun, but they apparently didn't bother to say a word to the others and just walked on past. I'll never understand these people. Then when I went to physics for seventh period, it was the same old thing we've been doing since I can remember. After school, I rushed my sister home so she could go back to school at 4:00 to go with the band to the away game. After I dropped her off and came back home, I called up Rachel to see if she wanted to go out for a birthday dinner. Turns out she already had plans to finish up a movie with Chris Sanderock. Oh well, I can tell when I've been beat. We talked for about an hour and 15 minutes or so until her mom needed to use the phone. We talked about everything from hearing voices, to talking to one's self, to romantic gift ideas. It was just a wonderful chat. I don't remember the last time I spent time talking with anyone on the phone. After that I laid back to rest just listening to music. Then I went to eat and watch some TV. I haven't really felt like getting on the computer much today, so I watched the last half of the latest Austin Powers movie. I thought most of it was pretty crude humor. Not exactly my type of movie, but it had its high points. At 2:00 tomorrow morning, I get to go pick up my sister from school. The band should be back by then. On a brighter note, I switched from hosting Galloping Cow on CyberCities to Cox where I get like 4 megs of free ad-less web space, and FTP actually works. Things are so much more simple now. I wonder if anything good will happen tomorrow.

10-5-00

Today was considerably better than the past few days, even though I didn't get to drive to school. I couldn't find the gang first thing in the morning, so I stalked around behind Rachel Trusty for a while before walking her to the library for class. Then in English I didn't have to present my project. Only one group went before we were supposed to go, but I had some problems getting things set up, so Mrs. Hubbard just said we could do it tomorrow. It'll give me another day to fix things up a bit. Hobbling along to the rest of my classes, things seemed to just go smoothly. I got a National Geographic report to do for history, and theoretically I should have all weekend to work on it. Mrs. Little said she needed people to come work tomorrow and help with retakes for yearbook pictures. It should get me out of a couple classes anyway. Finally, after school, I walked out with Rachel Trusty, Beth Scott, and Mark Harris (THAT'S his name!) since I had to wait for my mom to come pick me up anyway. Rachel didn't seem like she wanted to talk to me all that much, so I just let her drive on home. Not wanting to waste any time not doing anything, Mark and I jumped up on Beth's car hood while she was trying to take off. It worked for a little while, but she finally stopped the car and shooed us all away. After that I went around and wasted some time until my mom finally came to get me. When I got home I started working on my English project again, and have finally felt the feeling of successfully finishing the project. We got a nice little shower of rain with some pretty clouds up above, but it soon turned into a severe thunderstorm, so I lost a bit of time working on the English project, but that's all right. Now my only hope is that tomorrow will be better than today. I could use a really spiffy day right about now.

10-4-00

Today kind of sucked. Before I came to school I had to take my mom to the Wal-Mart parking lot so she could wait for the bus to go to Tunica again. I wanted to get to school early, but she ruined those plans. Nikki Holbrook decided to come today, despite her sickness. Get well soon, Nikki! Then first period we did presentations in English. Dustin Summey, Brian Bramlett, and Leslie Kohler presentation was amazing. Dustin had found a plugin for PowerPoint to let him do 3D slide transitions. After school, the first thing I did was go out in search of such plugins. I found several supposedly easy-to-use plugins for different types of visual effects, yet I have yet to get any of them to work. Plus I have the problem of making sure the presentation will run on the computer from the EAST lab. After calculus everyone went to the gym for a little presentation on voting and stuff. I thought it sucked, especially because I had to go out and take pictures of it. It wasn't fun, and I missed the EAST lab because of it. I didn't see Rachel Trusty at all today. She may have been sick or something. I hope not, but there's something starting to go around. I went over to her house after school to see if she was there, because I thought I might stop in to wish her well if she was sick. To my surprise, she wasn't there either. The rest of the day went by smoothly, except I have a lot of homework to do tonight. Adrian Greene and Olivia Cottingham still haven't done anything for the project, so I've spent all day working on it trying to get it all organized to show tomorrow first period. It obviously won't be as visually pleasing as Dustin's, but it will suffice. Now I need to put together something I can read for the class and a bibliography. Hopefully we won't have too many more group projects this year. I'm sick of getting stuck doing all the work in all the group projects I do. Finally, to make things worse tonight, the bottom of my right foot hurts like maybe I bruised it or something, and my mom came and said she needed the car tomorrow to go to a doctor's appointment or something. Now not only can I not walk, but I can't drive either. CyberCities crashed or something, so I'll have to re-upload every stinking file I had on the site, one-by-one without the help of an ftp program. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Ye olde life sucketh.

10-3-00

I had a great day today. I got to school early enough to sit and talk with the gang for a little while, and throughout most of the day I didn't have much to do. I need to start working on my English project though. Adrian Greene and Olivia Cottingham are in my group, but it looks like I get to do all the work this time. I should be used to it by now, but it still sucks to do all the work in what's supposed to be a group effort. Later I didn't have my calculus work, but Mrs. Heflin said I could turn it in tomorrow for half credit. It's still not done, but I keep confusing myself. So much has gone on this week that my brain just completely refuses to do any calculus. After that, I laid down on the couch in Mrs. Raines's room during advisory, and later got out of the EAST lab to go get my ACE award. Turns out Mrs. Hill was the one that nominated me. I'm grateful for it, partially because it was the only award or achievement I had to put on my Russellville Community Scholarship application. In history we were assigned a big paper, which will suck greatly. Then in yearbook I just developed 3 rolls of film. Before 6th period I went to Mr. Lonon's class with Rachel Trusty and talked with her for a bit. Then I went and finished my film and went on to physics where we just did some more reviewing of projectile motion. After school I walked Rachel out to her car, and eventually mentioned dinner. I'll ask her formally tomorrow and see if maybe she wants to go out with me sometime this week for a birthday dinner. I knew she'd have dinner plans yesterday on her birthday, and I'll be pretty busy for the rest of this week, but maybe she'd like to go out on Friday or something. I guess it's all up for the asking now.

10-2-00

Today started out being one of the best days of my life. It was just amazing. All morning I was waiting for God to strike me with lightning. I just couldn't believe how great things were going. I knew it must have been a dream. It all started when I woke up around 5:30 or 6. I set 3 alarms to be sure I got up, but my puny clock radio was enough to wake me up this morning. I knew it was going to be a great day. I knew it was Rachel Trusty's birthday (Happy birthday, Rachel!), and I wanted to do something really special for her. I wanted to do something that would really change her day, or even her entire week so it would be just a little bit more special. I decided some flowers would be an order. Yesterday the flower shops were closed because it was a Sunday, and this morning it was too early and nobody was open yet, so I was stuck going to Kroger (Sorry, Rachel.). I picked out the best looking bunch of roses they had and grabbed a card really quick and ran back out to the car. I needed to get to her house between 6:30 and 7:00, trying to avoid getting caught. I got to her house around 6:40. Luckily her windows were rolled down, so I put the roses in the driver's seat and put the card in one of the holes in the steering wheel. I didn't get caught, so I ran off back home so I could still get my sister to school with me. When I got to school, I started looking around but didn't see Rachel, so I just went to sit with Kelli Henderson so we could wait for the rest of the gang to show up. Just after I sat down, Rachel ran up to me from out of nowhere and gave me the biggest, best hug I've ever gotten. We talked for a little while before she had to run off to a student council meeting. After the bell rang, I was still sitting with the gang when she walked by behind me and gave me a nice pat on the head. I've never felt so loved. I did my best to see her as often as I could throughout the day, meeting her in the halls and even sneaking into Mr. Lonon's chemistry class. In English, Mrs. Hubbard said we could have another day on our projects. In calculus, Mrs. Heflin wasn't there, so we just got a worksheet to do for tomorrow. In history, I got all of my notebook finished and turned in, and I got a 90% on my test from Friday. I kept thinking about how it couldn't all be true. It had to be a dream. I had always thought it to be a sin for any mortal man to have such a wonderful day. After school I followed Rachel around a bit with Beth Scott and some other guy, whose name I simply do not know, until I had to go to my locker and turn in my scholarship applications. She thanked me again, and then I was off on my own. I got my books, turned in the application, and then ran out as fast as I could, trying to catch her one last time before she went on home. I saw her out by her car, so I ran to my car and drove over to meet her. She had already started on her way though, so after I passed her coming out of the parking lot, I spun around and pulled up next to her. Chris Sanderock, I assume, had apparently been by again to write happy birthday on her rear window, and left her a balloon and a flower. I knew he would do something like that. When I pulled up next to her and looked over, she was all dreamy-eyed smelling the flower that had been left for her. Any feeling of hope pretty much sunk right then and there. I knew she really liked him, but I wasn't really sure how much. Chris is a good guy though, and a friend of mine. I'm just going to have to realize that this has all just been a dream. I never had a snowball's chance in the hot place. This day has all been one long dream. I'm going to wake up in about an hour and realize it's already 8:23, and not only am I late to school, but it's also too late to go get flowers for Rachel.

10-1-00

Well, we start out a new month now. I moved all of September's daily logs to the History page, and I'm starting fresh on the Main page with October. Today started out fairly quiet, but quickly became rather hectic for me. I had a bunch of stuff to do, but was too lazy to do any of it. I just kept sleeping and laying down. I finally did my history notebook and typed a bunch of it up for Thomas Hollingsworth. I'm hoping next time he'll do it himself. I also fixed up my autobiography for the Russellville Community Scholarship. I filled out most of the form and got it ready to turn in tomorrow. Then I wanted to go to a flower shop to get some flowers for Rachel Trusty, but being a Sunday, I didn't know any place that would be open aside from Kroger or something. Failing that, I'm planning to go to bed early tonight and continue on with my plan tomorrow morning. I'll write more about what I do in my log tomorrow, after I actually do it. Other than that, I've just been really nervous about doing everything, so I'm trying to go to bed and get some good rest. No novels like last night. That's all, folks!
