Pixel 2 XL 3

We didn’t have any group work today, so I visited my buildings in the morning. Mollie set me up with some leftover biscuits and gravy at Oakland, and then I got some work done at the junior high before lunch. I was going to come home to eat leftovers, but ended up going to Wendy’s with Zach and Sara.

In the afternoon, my insurance replacement Pixel 2 XL came in, and once home, I spent several hours getting the screen protector and skin installed. I wasn’t too happy with this new brand of screen protector, but the skin installation went okay. I was able to salvage the wood grain top from my old phone, but the main skin was destroyed mostly because I also had the metal magnetic mounting plate stuck over it. Overall, it went okay, and I’m happy with the new look.

Later in the evening, I went and had dinner with the girls for a little while, then came back home to a few rounds of PUBG before bed.

This is exhausting.

Time Check

Kids were out of school today, so we had a group day of hanging touch panels. Midway through, we received an email from our assistant superintendent basically scolding everyone for having perfect timesheets that didn’t vary by a minute or two every day. We’ll be riding that scandall for a while, I figure.

While we were at our last room, I accidentally broke an owl kitchen timer on a teacher’s desk, and I felt absolutely dreadful about it. I tried to fix it, but just ended up making it worse. I knew I’d have to find a replacement somehow. Lunch was Taco Bell with Zach and Sara, and Summer met us there. Then it was back to the shop for the rest of the day. We got to leave an hour early, and it was off to find my owl.

I found the timer on Walmart.com, so I tried their brick-and-mortar first. I couldn’t find a single timer shaped like anything other than a timer, so it was off to Kmart. Then T.J. Maxx. Then finally back to the internet. I ultimately decided to go back to the manufacturer and ordered three, since I couldn’t choose a color. Hopefully I’ll get an assortment and not like three of the same color. My idea right now is to stage a crime scene, but time will tell.

When Summer got off work, we went to Denny’s for some burgers, then came home and watched Deadpool before bed. One more day, then it’s back to normal.

Diminishing Returns

We continued this morning with Age of Ultron before splitting up to get everyone ready for lunch. I picked up Bác Vân and met Summer with a couple kids for Ci-Ci’s. It was super busy, but they did a great job of keeping up with the demand, and the quality of food was well above average.

After lunch, I headed back home to wait for just two of them to come back and watch Ant Man. I started some laundry and managed that through the movie until Summer took the last child to her grandmother’s for the evening. School is out the next couple of days, but we still have to work, so this worked out well enough. I’m not super looking forward to hanging more touch panels tomorrow, but at least we won’t be bored.

What’s for lunch?

Double Date

I woke up this morning and had to head home to shower before meeting up with Jesica for our trip to Red Lobster for lunch. We got there about mid afternoon for Lobsterfest and got our fill of immortal crustaceans. We didn’t really have time to do anything else before she had to get back home for a tattoo appointment, so it was just a lunch run.

Once we got home, I cleaned house for another weekend of Marvel movies. Summer brought everyone but Autumn because she didn’t want to come this time, so I vowed never to invite her ever again, and we took on Captain America: The Winter SoldierAvengers: Age of Ultron, and we started Guardians of the Galaxy to fall asleep to, since everyone had seen it a handful of times recently. Tomorrow we may pick that up, or we may jump right into the other straggling characters.

You never know but you hope for the best and you make due with what you get.

Smashing!

I got up extra early today so I could bake potatoes for our potluck at work. I think I baked them a little too hot or too long, but they weren’t bad. Heather’s husband made chili for her to bring, and Jason brought three sleeves of crackers. Dale brought a chopped onion. It was almost as though they were having a contest to see who could get out the cheapest. Gary threatened to bring salt and pepper, but he brought Fritos.

After work, I went home and played a few rounds of PUBG by myself because nobody else was around. When Summer got home, I headed to her place. Then I dropped my phone onto her hardwood floor for the second time, and this time my screen protector didn’t take the hit. I shattered the top right corner of the screen.

Fortunately I took up the insurance, but it’s agonizing all the same. I’ve never broken a phone like this before, plus it’s a hundred bucks I shouldn’t have to spend. Not having specific places to put my phone makes me erratic. I try to leave it in my pocket when I’m there, but then sometimes that’s not practical when I’m laying around. I thought I was being more careful after what happened last time. In fact, I was actually placing it onto the table to try and keep it from falling off the bed when it slid off, which is what was so incredibly frustrating about this.

At least the insurance claim was painless to file. A quick chat with Fi customer service got me an email to agree to terms, then an email with a link to order a new phone. I ordered another pair of screen protectors as well, though I thought I’d try a different brand from the last pair I got. I guess we’ll see how long this lasts. This is, without a doubt, the most fragile phone I’ve ever owned.

Current Mood: Stewing

Quiet Quiet

Nobody seemed to be up to much today. I’m still fighting netbooks, and can’t image them over the network without imaging them first with a flash drive, then adding them to the domain to be seen by SCCM. Once I do that, though, it’s like the network port remembers that it should be allowed to image the next device, and I can chain my network imaging together. It doesn’t really make any sense, but that seems to be what’s happening in practice.

I was going to come home for lunch, but a bunch of people went to Taco Bell, and I wanted to try their new fries. They weren’t bad. The Nacho Fries Bellgrande left something to be desired, what with only fries, cheese, a little bit of meat, tomatoes, and a little squirt of sour cream, but they had some good spice to them. Still nothing to compare with Potato Oles from Taco John’s, though.

After work, I came home for some PUBG until I had to wash some potatoes to bake in the morning for our putluck tomorrow. Then we played one last round before bed, and I might have actually lead our team to victory if I had only had just an ounce of cover from the fire coming in from opposite directions. C’est la vie.

What’s taters, precious?

Maintaintenance

I got called to the junior high today for an “emergency” situation with a computer they needed to restart. They figured it out by the time I got there because my new assistant principal has moxy. I’m about over them crying wolf.

A bunch of us went to Brangus for lunch, and I had the best beef spud and service I’ve ever had there. Gary’s food was lukewarm because it was Gary. Then I was off to finish up the day by myself.

After work, the girls came by to help with the leftovers. After they left, I made a quick trip to Walmart for some cat food, and potatoes to bake for Friday’s chili lunch. Back home, we tried to play some PUBG but the servers went down for maintenance right as everyone got online. Keno and I had a couple rounds in Overwatch instead, and then we all called it an early night.

We’ll be departing Procrastination Station a little behind schedule.

The Monkey on Your Back Is the Latest Trend

I felt a little lost at work today, but I managed. I just haven’t really had any momentum in a while. It’s been tough finding things to learn.

I had lunch in the library, and didn’t even leave the building until near quitting time when it was raining. At least I didn’t get stuck working on something for hours after work. I’ve been tired as well, so I just came home and played some PUBG for a while until bed.

It’s not that we’re scared. It’s just that it’s delicate.

On the Subject of Cookie Jars

This morning was mostly a cluster of people being frustrated at one another for lack of forethought and planning. Everyone had a role to fill, and desperately few had put enough thought into how to best complete the task in an efficient manner. Partially too many hands in the cookie jar, and partially overloaded leadership with too many tasks pulling them in too many directions at once.

Remembering the giant pan of cheesy potatoes in my refrigerator, I came home for lunch. Then I couldn’t help but to play a solo round of PUBG with my remaining time. I don’t know what’s gotten me on such a kick lately. I think partially it’s that the game is running better with patches, and partially that I’ve gotten noticeably better, and I’m enjoying the practice without others screaming in my ear in frustration. For so long, I’d forgotten what it was like to just enjoy a game.

My afternoon and evening got swallowed up into more work, and after staying a couple hours late to finish a task, I finally made it home to start a load of laundry. Summer came by to help with the leftovers before heading home for the evening, then I played a few more rounds of PUBG with the guys before bed.

Don’t forget to publish!

Hot Dishes

We continued our marathon today with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, along with a bunch of assorted food. We started off with waffles and eggs for breakfast, then some cinnamon rolls and chips to snack on. We capped the evening with brats and smoked sausages and some more leftover Fat Daddy’s cheesy potatoes and beans. Overall I’d say it was a success. We watched Evolution as a no-brainer movie while we had dinner, then the girls went home for the school night.

After I cleaned up a bit, Keno joined me for a couple rounds of PUBG. We should have done better the first round, but we ended in the top 10 and died outside of the hill. The second round could have been better, but we didn’t ever have a very good plan, and we were surrounded by others. I wasn’t even sure I was awake enough to really play well anyway, so it was no pressure.

Ca-caw! Ca-caw!
