We’re Here and Now

I feel like every time I sleep in my bed, it’s better than the last time. It needed a little break-in time when I made the sheet change, but otherwise I’m happy with it.

Mom made bánh mì for lunch, so I went across down for that. Afterward I came home to finish my placement matches in Overwatch. I didn’t rank as highly as I would have liked, and I felt like it was genuinely an issue with team composition both times that we had a losing match.

Having enough of that, I took a shower and started cleaning up some more around the house. The cats are shedding way more than they should be for this time of the year. It’s like springtime right now. I could build an army of cats from all the fur I vacuum up.

As the evening came, I started a couple loads of laundry and settled in with a rum and Coke to watch Whiplash.

I never really know a killer from a savior.

The Tiniest of Progressions

I managed to win all but one of my placement matches in Overwatch this morning and afternoon.

Then I finally did the dishes.

I went to my parents’ house for dinner. It was really warm outside. It’s November.

I think I want to paint.

Teeth of Blue

Today was mostly filled with accomplishment and a willingness from everyone to work hard enough to go home early. It was really something everyone could stand behind. We mounted a couple touch panels before lunch, then went to Wendy’s for Gary’s birthday. After lunch, we split up and I spent some time at both of my campuses.

After work, I came home to pick up my new bluetooth car audio adapter. I had relatively few problems with the Miracast dongle that I’ve been using for years, but it was annoying for other people to use, and I felt like the audio quality could have been improved. Amazon had one on sale a few days ago that would fit my needs perfectly, and I’m quite happy with it after just the first night.

After a while, I had to pick up some cat food and safflower seed to use as litter, so I went by Atwoods on my way to my parents’ house for some leftover dinner. Then it was back home and eventually to bed.

Your voice, it chased away all the sanity in me.

Ragnarok

The new bed sheets made it super hard to get out of bed this morning. I really wasn’t expecting it after feeling how stiff they were last night, but after rolling around in them all night, I felt guilty leaving them to go to work. I talked to a couple of the girls at work about getting a new comforter, and they both mentioned quilts, so I guess I’m getting a quilt next.

It’s taking me a while to get used to the slowing down at work. My big projects are pretty well over, and I’m down to the less fun stuff that I’ve been putting off.

Right after work, Josh and I went to Conway for the Thor: Ragnarok “fan release event” at the Cinemark. It was less of an event, and more of a ticket with the built-in price for a large popcorn and a “commemorative coin.” It was still worth it to see it earlier in the evening though, and it may have become my new favorite Marvel movie. It was by far the funniest without a doubt, and before seeing it, I wouldn’t have thought that possible. They went a completely different direction from the first two Thor movies. Afterward, we hit up the always-delicious Chipotle for some big ol’ burritos.

Once home, it was a quick load of laundry, then bed.

What are you, Thor: God of Hammers?

OSHA High Score

I started the morning right with a Coffiest Soylent and felt great working through lunch. I got to play with Sara’s Pixel 2 XL briefly, and I think I’ll be alright with the size once mine comes in.

I had to climb an 8 foot ladder to replace a projector lamp this afternoon. That would have been exciting enough on the next-to-last rung, but I also had to span the ladder across two lunch tables to get high enough. I took every safety precaution though, and arranged for Mollie to have a mop bucket on standby, and advised her how to erase my internet history if necessary. At one point, I dropped my screwdriver and watched as it hit every rung on the way down. Perfect.

Mom made mango soup for dinner, which was awesome. Then I ran home to launder my brand new bed sheets in time for bed. The bed sheets I’ve been using were officially old enough to legally date. The new sheets seem a bit stiffer than I’d prefer, but it gives me a starting point to buy more.

It’s almost Thor’s day!

The Slowest of Mornings

I was content to sleep through an alarm this morning. It was cold and wibbly out of bed. I dawdled most of the morning away at the office before I really got to any major work. I did get to tinker in group policy and SCCM a bit more though.

After lunch, I hit my campuses and kept mostly busy until I had my hours in. From there, I came home and finished the holiday event on Overwatch before bedtime.

Are you scared? Don’t be scared! Everyone dies. This is much better than retirement!

Take everything from the inside

Nature has a way of reminding me that things could always be worse. Someone clearly had a worse morning than me.

I had a fallback plan for lunch, which was nice. I skipped Mexican in the cafeteria in favor of Mexican at Morelo’s with some of the crew.

After work, I dropped a baby watermelon and a couple yellow things off at my parents’ house. Then it was back home for rum and Overwatch.

Mostly rum.

Now I can’t stop craving hamburgers.

Every time I try to make myself get back upon my feet, all I ever think about is this.

Don’t Go Outside

This morning was Overwatch until the late afternoon when Mom texted that she made curry. As I tried to leave the house, the Murano wouldn’t start due to a bad battery. I hooked it up to the charger and took the bike. On the way to my parents’ house, I got pulled over because somehow a cop saw that the registration sticker on my bike was the wrong color. Normally I’m pretty aware of my surroundings, but I had just been watching behind me, and I have no idea where he came from. He just asked me to contact the DMV to ask for a new sticker and let me be on my way.

After I made it back home, I started a load of laundry and settled in to watch Thor: The Dark World. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is becoming a bit unwieldy, and I had to look up a timeline to keep the story straight. I’m super excited for Thor: Ragnarok though.

I’m swimming in the smoke of bridges I have burned.

Well, sheet.

It’s another week down, and we ran into some great luck this morning with a cable run that happened to have already been completed by a contractor some years earlier. It’s mind boggling to periscope into the ceiling only to find a huge bundle of wire that’s already been run, yet not documented.

Lunch was at Buffalo Wild Wings, where nobody seems to understand how the Fast Break Lunch menu is supposed to work. We all ended up getting the same “military” discount, presumably because our waitress thought she owed us free lunch, but someone else told her she didn’t. I guess it’s a difficult policy to fully understand. Otherwise, the service and food were both well above average this time.

After work, I tried to grind up the ladder in Overwatch, but just bounced around in my current level all night. I ended things with a particularly toxic player well below my rank. Not even sure if he was joking. People are silly.

I felt agitated enough that I pulled the trigger on some new bedding, because I deserve luxurious sheets after all these years.

Who can ignore a Gold Box Deal, anyhow?
