The Fountain of Savings

The girls spent today with their father, so Summer and I went to Colton’s for a late lunch. Afterward, we went to Staples so I could spend a promo $10 that I had received from there. I found a Cross fountain pen marked down from $57 to $16.50. I’d been wanting a fountain pen to play with, but never bit the bullet, so this was as good a chance as any.

From there, we came back home and talked to Bác Vân while she was outside digging holes. She made me cut a branch, then Summer and I went back to her place to receive the girls. We played a game of Monopoly where I went from a little dicey to complete and total annihilation of everyone else. The girls went to bed saddened and heartbroken as they should have, and I helped Summer set up a Steam account. She played a game of Worms to get started, and I’ll have to find her something else she might like.

I did not realize how much work owning a pen could be.

What can I say except, “you’re welcome!”

I slept in again today, but made time to clean the aquarium and living room before going out. The girls went shopping and wanted CiCi’s, so I met them there for that. Afterward we stopped in to Shoe Carnival so I could look for some sandals. I don’t really understand it, but the sandals I wear are at least a size larger than my shoe size.

When we left there, Summer asked what the plan was, and I told her that I was going to go play video games by myself and she could do whatever she wanted. Eaddie said she was with me, so I took her, which I think was a surprise to everyone. It looked like Summer and Autumn went toward their house, and Eaddie and I went to my house, but then made a detour to get half a sandwich out of the office refrigerator. On the way back, we passed a bird sitting in the gutter of the road that didn’t move, so I circled around and we walked over to look at it. I managed to poke it before it wobely flew across the street. We followed it, but I never got to touch it again. I did get a sweet picture of it when it landed just outside arm’s reach in a tree.

Giving up on the bird, we came back to my house and met the others and played some Blokus before settling in to watch Moana. I loved the movie, and the 3D was spot-on.

Patty is a Girl’s Name

I slept in a while today and eventually got up and around to take care of some miscellaneous, neglected tasks. I spent a long time ordering some new shoes again because of deals. Eventually I left the house for dinner at my parents’ house. I thought they had leftovers for me to clean up, but instead, Mom cooked a new batch of veggies for chow mein.

After dinner, I went to Summer’s for some Uno before the girls went to bed, then she and I watched a few more episodes of The Office before I came home to crash.

What a wholesome St. Paddy’s day.

Gimme a break!

It’s the last day of work until spring break, and overall it was a pretty light day. It was supposed to warm up, so I rode the bike in through the cold sprinkles. Ben and Max helped me pick up a couple SMART boards from Oakland, and that was it for group work. We packed everyone up to go to Western Sizzlin for lunch, and the clouds finally let up in the mid afternoon to warm things up.

After work, I came home to do some laundry and finish digitizing my fuel logs. I was super tired and didn’t feel like doing anything else at all. I managed to stay awake long enough to play a few rounds of PUBG with Clint and Keno, then it was off to bed.

Why not? I deserve a break!

Be curious.

I didn’t have a single incident during testing today, so I spent the morning getting things done.

Allen and I had lunch at Arby’s and were supposed to help Amanda with another flat panel, but evidently she wouldn’t have been there, so it was postponed. Frustrated with our last install, we hooked up the projector in the graveyard to see its performance for ourselves. It’s not one I would have replaced over some others, so gripes will be made.

After work, I came home for a bit before heading to Summer’s for chili, Clue, and Cosmos. It felt fitting after learning of Stephen Hawking’s passing.

Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.

Chow, Man

Testing was mostly uneventful this morning, but it seemed to be a bit of a cluster for those running the show. I played a small part, which is the way it should be.

Dale met me at KFC for lunch. His idea. Allen didn’t even respond, but it went alright anyway. We found enough to chat about that it was a good time.

After lunch, I made my rounds between the buildings before meeting Allen and Amanda at the shop to hang a touch panel at Sequoyah. Jennifer saw us come in and snapped a selfie with me to send to her mom. We accidentally left a box cutter and some panduit in the room, which she thankfully found later and stashed away for us.

I went straight to my parents’ house for dinner where Mom was making her usual batch of chow mein. She said to invite Summer, so she brought the girls over after she got out of her board meeting. Autumn had already eaten, but Eaddie finished a good sized plate, and overall the behavior was choice. I don’t think it could have gone any better.

I guess this is my life now.

Taskmaster

Today was all about closing work orders. I was a task killing machine. They weren’t hard tasks, but I finished them, and that counts for something.

Dale, Allen, and I went to CiCi’s so I could redeem my birthday buffet. The girl at the register took my phone and immediately backed out of the coupon code I had on display for her. Unfortunately, the app wouldn’t let me view the code again, so she had to take care of it in her own way.

After work, Jesica called to say she was in town, and took me to Taco Villa for dinner. We just ate and ran though, because she had a tattoo appointment. I came home and did a minimal amount of cleaning before playing a couple rounds of PUBG with Clint and then Aaron, and then it was off to bed early.

An “impromptattoo.”

A Wrinkle

We all got up this morning to some poachies, sausage links, and strawberries before trekking to Conway. We caught the early afternoon showing of A Wrinkle in Time before doing a bit of shopping. The movie was okay, but I wonder how it compares to the book. At a glance, it looks like something I may actually be able to digest someday.

We wandered through Dollar Tree for a bit before heading to Sam’s to load up on some essentials for them and a 50-pound bag of popcorn kernels for me, because it’s the only way I could afford to feed this many mouths.  From there, we managed to find a compromise on a pizza at Old Chicago before failing to make it to Shoe Carnival before closing.

Cranky and tired, we made it all the way back home without any casualties. Except the popcorn. Somewhere between the store and the car, it suffered a stab wound.

Don’t go to war for me.

Need More Data

I spent all day entering fuel records for my R1. It wasn’t particularly fun, but it was nice to get it out of the way. I’m still somehow missing about a year worth of records somehow, but hopefully I can find them in a lost file somewhere.

Summer got back from her quiz bowl trip early, but I still didn’t make it back to her place until later in the evening. She made an awesome stuffed chicken breast thing for dinner, then we played Phase 10 until the girls went to bed and finished season 2 of The Office before bed ourselves.

I’m gonna chow down my vegetables!

Raze the Roof

I spent all day at work on a ladder in the ceiling. First it was a line for a panic button at Oakland, then setting up a three-room overhead speaker system at the junior high. We took a break at Brangus for lunch, but then it was right back to the junior high to finish running the speaker lines.

After work I felt so tired and gross that I took an evening shower to rest, then went to Summer’s for the evening. Fish sticks and The Office until bed.
