Maintaintenance

I got called to the junior high today for an “emergency” situation with a computer they needed to restart. They figured it out by the time I got there because my new assistant principal has moxy. I’m about over them crying wolf.

A bunch of us went to Brangus for lunch, and I had the best beef spud and service I’ve ever had there. Gary’s food was lukewarm because it was Gary. Then I was off to finish up the day by myself.

After work, the girls came by to help with the leftovers. After they left, I made a quick trip to Walmart for some cat food, and potatoes to bake for Friday’s chili lunch. Back home, we tried to play some PUBG but the servers went down for maintenance right as everyone got online. Keno and I had a couple rounds in Overwatch instead, and then we all called it an early night.

We’ll be departing Procrastination Station a little behind schedule.

The Monkey on Your Back Is the Latest Trend

I felt a little lost at work today, but I managed. I just haven’t really had any momentum in a while. It’s been tough finding things to learn.

I had lunch in the library, and didn’t even leave the building until near quitting time when it was raining. At least I didn’t get stuck working on something for hours after work. I’ve been tired as well, so I just came home and played some PUBG for a while until bed.

It’s not that we’re scared. It’s just that it’s delicate.

On the Subject of Cookie Jars

This morning was mostly a cluster of people being frustrated at one another for lack of forethought and planning. Everyone had a role to fill, and desperately few had put enough thought into how to best complete the task in an efficient manner. Partially too many hands in the cookie jar, and partially overloaded leadership with too many tasks pulling them in too many directions at once.

Remembering the giant pan of cheesy potatoes in my refrigerator, I came home for lunch. Then I couldn’t help but to play a solo round of PUBG with my remaining time. I don’t know what’s gotten me on such a kick lately. I think partially it’s that the game is running better with patches, and partially that I’ve gotten noticeably better, and I’m enjoying the practice without others screaming in my ear in frustration. For so long, I’d forgotten what it was like to just enjoy a game.

My afternoon and evening got swallowed up into more work, and after staying a couple hours late to finish a task, I finally made it home to start a load of laundry. Summer came by to help with the leftovers before heading home for the evening, then I played a few more rounds of PUBG with the guys before bed.

Don’t forget to publish!

Hot Dishes

We continued our marathon today with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, along with a bunch of assorted food. We started off with waffles and eggs for breakfast, then some cinnamon rolls and chips to snack on. We capped the evening with brats and smoked sausages and some more leftover Fat Daddy’s cheesy potatoes and beans. Overall I’d say it was a success. We watched Evolution as a no-brainer movie while we had dinner, then the girls went home for the school night.

After I cleaned up a bit, Keno joined me for a couple rounds of PUBG. We should have done better the first round, but we ended in the top 10 and died outside of the hill. The second round could have been better, but we didn’t ever have a very good plan, and we were surrounded by others. I wasn’t even sure I was awake enough to really play well anyway, so it was no pressure.

Ca-caw! Ca-caw!

MOOvie Marvel II

I got up today and tried a few rounds of solo PUBG since nobody else was around to play. I made it to the top 5 or 10 in every game in which I didn’t get killed immediately, which made me feel like I’m really improving. After a morning of that, I spent most of the afternoon cleaning house in preparation for our second weekend of bingeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After everything was cleaned up, Josh joined for me for a round of doubles, which we won right off the bat. Then the girls got here right as we got looted in our second game, so I quit out and left him to fend for himself.

Summer brought a bunch of leftover Fat Daddy’s barbecue from a quiz bowl event today, along with a bunch of stuff to make for tomorrow. We made it through Thor and The Avengers with only one casualty to sleep. Tomorrow we’ll continue with Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, then see where the day takes us. We’ve still got some catching up to do before Black Panther comes out in a couple weeks.

It seems to be powered by some sort of electricity!

The Catless Bag

I was greeted at work this morning with a mild interrogation about my social life. Evidently they don’t read the blog.

We had Brick Oven for lunch, then got to leave an hour early, but I ended up sticking around and talking to Ben for a while before heading home to play a few rounds of PUBG with Josh. I did pretty well, and ended up outlasting him in most or all of our games. I feel like if I had a new computer, I might actually stand a real chance.

Afterward, I grabbed some chicken fries from Burger King and headed up to Summer’s to hang out for the rest of the evening.

What were you saying?
Can we move the flowers?
Before that.
This meatloaf is dry.
Before that.
This is meatloaf?
Before that.
This fish is dry.

Februwhaty?

Another week and another month over. Work has been pretty dead, so I’m down to just a handful of old work orders. Surprise cookies for breakfast, then I had lunch with the girls in the library. I almost won our last game of PUBG this evening while Jack, Josh, and Aaron watched in awe. Then I laid down and died instead of winning.

Second place is just the first place loser.

Retrorito

Not much to report from work today. Summer took the afternoon off to take Autumn to the doctor, so the three of us had lunch at Stoby’s. I got my 8Bitdo N30 PRO controller in today, and I’m pretty impressed with the build quality. I look forward to loading up some emulators on my phone soon.

Summer made burritos for dinner, and we discovered how much of a pro-rito-roller I really am. I think I’ve found my true calling.

When fade into darkness, the light will keep strong and bright until itself dies.

No, Mister Bond. I expect you to retire.

Jesica came to town today to take me out to lunch on Arvest’s dime and talk about my retirement, or more specifically, how they would rather be the ones to hold on to it for me. It all seems a little morbid to plot out your money so that you ideally run out right as you die. For me, retirement seems more like a point in my life where I’ll reach “fuck-it” and sail away into the horizon after the sun. Presumably I’ll be raided by pirates and subsequently eaten by sharks. This seems okay.

After work, I came home and spent the evening with the boys playing PUBG. I’ve said it before, but that game really makes me want to upgrade my gaming setup. The only problem is that now I can’t stop thinking I should save every penny for retirement.

How exactly does one “win” the game of life?

Wait, you mean like… for fun?!?

I woke up and started cleaning house today. It was pretty nice outside, so Summer wanted to go for a walk. I stopped by Popeye’s to pick up the biscuits they shorted me yesterday, then picked her up to go to Bona Dea. We made a short loop around the back side of the trail, then went back to her house to wait for the girls to get home. She made dinner, then I came home to do a couple loads of laundry. I managed to squeeze in a few rounds of PUBG before bed, but never did very well. I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow.

When’s spring break again???
